Could have been 5 star, but was not

Pros: The overall Staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk dropped the ball regarding my issue with the room.
Cons: When a problem is noted at the front desk...management should call and make sure the issue is resolved.
Location: Great location...walking distance to everything you need.
Chicago is a frequent destination for me and my wife. I have stayed at two other competing luxury brand hotels in the Magnificent Mile of Chicago. This trip I chose The Ritz-Carlton Chicago. First I want to say the staff was amazing...just what you would expect from a Ritz Carlton property. With one exception...I will get to that in a moment. The room was a city view...2122. It was very clean and well appointed except for the stain in the carpet in the middle of the room. The bed was well made and nice...except the mattress was broken down so badly, my wife moved to my daughters apartment to sleep on the couch. I spoke to the front desk...they offered to flip the mattress. I said...will the mattress still be broken but just flipped....well that is what I received...still slept on a broken down old mattress...and the call from management making sure my issue had been solved...which is normal in a hotel of this quality...it never happened. Clean the carpet...buy a new mattress and this is a great hotel...looks like I will go back to the Four Seasons.
