We were unaware of the property's awful condition when we booked; partly our fault for not researching enough. We booked two rooms through Expedia and both of them were at the ground floor. One of the rooms was not even prepared; the sheets were dirty, the room hadn't been cleaned after the last guest, and there was a bad smell with water on the floor. Additionally, there were homeless people loitering in front of the door.
The other room was in an okay-ish condition. The beds were made and relatively more livable.
Perhaps this is why it was one of the cheapest options, but compared to other places we've stayed, this experience was unexpected. We booked online based on a 3.4 rating on Google, taking a chance, but we've stayed in many different hotels/motels and never encountered such conditions before.
Feeling unsafe with my wife and kids, we decided to leave. I'll give a 3-star rating for the front office guy who promptly refunded the full amount without hesitation. Perhaps if you're alone, on a budget, and need a place for the night, you could consider this location. However, I would strongly advise visiting the place before booking, if possible, and considering the upper-level rooms.
