Villa with huge PRIVATE POOL and sublime garden on the flanks of Mount Etna Reviews

We had an amazing time at this very beautiful villa! It had everything you could ask for and more. The pool was in constant use as we were blessed with fantastic weather! The hosts helped us organise a birthday celebration lunch which was sublime. Special shout out to Gratz who was delightful to deal with and helped us organise a very memorable stay. 5 stars ⭐️ thank you

We stayed in the villa with a group of 13 and had plenty of space - one room is a room of 3, others were all doubles. Two bedrooms downstairs did not have air conditioning and we did ask the owner to bring more fans but it would have been better to have AC in all bedrooms. Bathrooms and particularly the showers are extremely small considering the amount of space, would be nice to have bigger showers. We ended up using the outdoor cold shower mostly. Kitchen was nice and big and had 2 fridges but we had a few power cuts since we visited during the heatwave in July so the fridge didn't stay cold all the time. There was also a leak under the sink which needs fixing. Dishwasher was useful, and kitchen was well equipped with crockery and cookware, but we did have to purchase essentials like things for cleaning, tea towels, and cooking essentials like oil and spices. The pool and outside area was great with a big BBQ area and table tennis. The pool is quite deep on one end and a quite a lot of chopped tiles on the bottom so be careful with small children. Also there were no pool towels provided so be sure to bring your own or prepare to buy some. We had hired cars which made getting around the island much easier. There's not a lot within walking distance so cars are recommended. Nearest supermarket was 5-10 mins drive away.

Wonderful house in large grounds with fabulous pool. However it needs attention. Pool tiles missing but not excessive. Inside is huge with 2 large and 1 smaller shower room. They desperately need updated - plenty of room for walk in showers and a bath! No shower mats we had to use towels. In the bedrooms the decor is either dull or too much colour. It’s such a great building having been an olive palmento. It deserves to be better styled! There are some wonderful touches but the seating areas need to be better. The kitchen is a great size with large fridge. The dining room is like a school dining hall with plastic table cloth over 2 tables. No lamps only overhead light. We rearranged it to suit us. There are plenty of sun beds and an outside table and chairs, covered. Also there are 2 outside pool showers. We didn’t use the self contained flat or the barbecue area (covered) It’s a quiet neighbourhood with great views of Mt Etna. You’ll need a car, there’s a big supermarket nearby. There’s a table tennis table. It’s quirky with 2 bedrooms downstairs and 3 upstairs, 2 large terraces upstairs with outside steps to ground level. We enjoyed it as we spent our days by the pool but the inside needs attention. It could be stunning.

We were traveling with a group of 14 people, age range from 12 to 70. There is enough space available that everyone felt very comfortable. The pool was amazing, the kids spent hours every day swimming, it is clean and well maintained. The sitting rooms were spacious and very comfortable. There was more than enough sleeping area for our group size. The hosts were the absolute best. They helped make arrangements for some group activities and went beyond anything our previous stays did. Communication before and during our stay were the best! Centralized location not far from restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores. Also not far off the main highway so getting to Catania, Messina, and even Siracusa was not difficult. Massimo made arrangements for an amazing dinner for one our nights, including vegan options for 2 of our group members. The chef was great and very entertaining.

The house is well equipped and the garden is enormous (Massive barbecue area as well!) The pool was fabulous. The three upstairs bedrooms have aircon, but there isn't any downstairs, which made for some very stuffy nights. Communication with our host was good. The area is quite run down, but you are secure in a gated area, and we drove most places so it wasn't a problem.

This house was very disappointing and looks and sounds much better in the photos than in reality. The one star is for the pool, which is the only nice feature - although they filled in the jacuzzi part of the pool with cement, which cheapens it. - Towels and linens were disgusting. They also only provide ONE bath towel and hand towel per person. They were old, torn up, worn out. They even told us if we wanted towels for the pool, we must pay extra for them (??!!). - Mattresses were terrible and old. - Lighting: it was so dark inside it was hard to see - even during the day - because the lighting is terrible and there are not many windows. - Pool table was super old and worn out and the pool sticks were so worn out they did not work properly. - There is no central place to hang out in the house - the rooms are oddly situated and to be all together you had to sit around the dining table. - Kitchen and supplies were old. The oven did not work. - Home booked for 8 ppl and they left us TWO rolls of toilet paper. Ridiculously cheap to not have more so we had to go to store to get some. - Bathroom showers were disgusting - old, grimey, small (I am 5/7 and 135 lbs and could barely fit inside the "master" bathroom shower. The other showers were equally disgusting. - Location is horrible - its so hard to get in and out of, very far from any place you'd want to eat at or hang out at. They only provide one gate key to the property so you can't have two people go in two different places without coordinating for the person with the key to get home first. - It rained and water came in under doors. There are very basic things one can do to make a stay more pleasant - and this house had none of them. I am an avid renter of Villas through airbnb and homeaway, and I own a vacation home myself, and I have to say this is the absolute WORST experience I have had with something in this price-range I don't know how any one could stay in this house for any length of time. After I checked in with my whole famliy and it was so uncomfortable, dirty, old and creepy that I immediately had to start looking for another accomodation in Sisily last minute. And its not like the place is cheap. I paid so much per night (after fees and taxes) and expected at least a bare minimum of comfort and cleanliness. If you expert to "camp" and "rough it", this is your place. If you want to be comfortable and feel somewhat at a nice place, this is NOT for you.

The villa was nice and also the amenities

We stayed here during August 2017 and had a fabulous time. The villa has a lovely garden with a BBQ area and a large pool which is a must in the middle of the summer. The villa is large, comfortable and well equipped - perfect for a large family group (there were 11 of us). You do need a car as it is quite remote but the nearest supermarket is only a 5 minute drive. We were met by Massimo and the translators, Chiara and Giada who couldn't have been more helpful. They organised a meal which was cooked for us by their chef in our kitchen which was excellent. Catania is a short drive away and I would recommend a trip up Mount Etna. Stunning views. We will definitely be going back at some point in the future.
