It is with great sadness that we have to report the worst treatment we have ever had in our 20 years of traveling, the last 10 as Expedia VIP Gold members. We booked a day earlier at Hotel Garni Brunnthaler than intended and attempted for 24 hours beforehand to remedy this with the extremely helpful assistance of the Expedia agents. We finally got through to reception (which inexplicably closed the night before) and was told that all is order and that they will make the adjustment when we come through. We drove for 3 hours straight across Bavaria to be told on arrival that they have changed their minds. Not only did we now forfeit the first night we now owed them even more if we wanted to stay. We expressed our dismay at this and reception started shouting at us in German knowing full well that we are English speaking. The shouting got so bad we had to walk away until the husband of the receptionist came and mansplained to us that it was our ‘tough luck’. We decided to overnight (we had already paid). Still traumatized and very upset we left first thing the next morning. What a terrible experience!

Dear Hermanus,unfortunalety we reconized some misinformation in your feedback which we have to correct. First of all you booked last minute at 9pm. for the same day. According to our telephone records, someone tried to call us at 11pm. That is long after our working hours. Before we close our reception at 9:30 pm we even tried to contact you by phone and we sent you details and instructions for late arrival over expedia messages without recieving any response from you.As you arrived the next day you informed us that you booked the wrong dates and demanded to change your reservation mistake free of charge in a very arrogant and unfriendly manner. Your Expedia VIP Gold membership doesnt entitle you to change your booking dates as you wish and this free of charge. When you dont arrive on your booked date, this is a no show for us and we are entitled to charge you for the night. Second of all, we would never allow ourselves to shout at guests and our English is good enough to communicate so we dont have to use German. We kindly asked you to wait in our lobby until the owner comes, so we can attend the other guests who were waiting to check in. We can proudly say that our staff friendliness is explicitly mentioned in almost all our reviews. We hope that you book the correct dates for your next trip so you dont get traumatized and upset again.

Very nice property and staff; they even went above and beyond by advising us the sunroof in our rental car was open and rain was expected. They were sooo correct; it poured. We would have been trying to explain the pool inside the rental car if not for the hotel staff looking out for us.

Staff great, really clean. A little bit dated is the only criticism. Great sauna.
