Pros: Beach access; Dining and Cabana staff were thorough. Walkable to shopping and local establishments; MAZATLAN letters too; Great options for food on and off property. Taxi, red truck, and Pulmonia options just out the front door. Felt safe; great sunsets and great weather; Mexican Show with traditional state dances, songs, and mariachi band were fabulous. Cons--Towel Thieves (we were charges 250 pesos per towel) since we did not have the towel cards to return at check out; Volume of Beach bands (sometimes 5 were playing at a time) starting after lunch until after sunset; Vendors allowed on the resort side of the rope barrier to peddler their wares; beggars allowed on the resort side of the rope barrier to ask for money; beds had plastic liners under sheets that made noise everytime you rolled over

The Hotel Playa Mazatlan was very clean, very comfortable and the staff were beyond helpful. My issue and the reason I will never go back there and not recommend the hotel to anyone was the noise. Bands made up of trumpets, trombones, tubas and worst of all base drums played constantly right in front of the hotel. Four people would pay the band to play and hundreds of hotel guest had to listen to it constantly. A couple of times we had three bands playing different songs on the beach right in front of the hotel at the same time. Never again!

We really enjoyed our 2 week stay at the hotel Playa Mazatlan…but the bands on the beach were another story. On a couple of daily occasions, we counted 11 different bands. Every single day from approximately 12:15pm - 10:30pm they played non stop. Most days, at times, there were 2-3 bands all at the same time, all playing different songs, within 100’ of each other & only 30’ from us. We couldn’t even have a conversation or hear the ocean or the birds all afternoon & into the evening. Most nights the lovely supper entertainment was drown out by all their playing as well. The noise level was horrible & inescapable, from lunchtime til we retired in the evening. That was our only disappointment.

I loved the atmosphere of the hotel. You can get the Banda at the beach, buy snacks, souvenirs and staff is really friendly. My only suggestion is improving food quality at the snack bar.
