Great cabin in the woods

Short drive to Pinecrest lake.
A lot of hiking trails around.
Had awesome time with friends for Memorial Weekend gateway.

Not a great start - bad communication
Publié le 23 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayThe trip started off stressful. Chk in instructions stated how to access property. We arrived 20min after chk in time & could not get in. Phone service is poor in the area. Attempted to contact owner & only reached vm. There was no other contact number or person. Called vrbo. We kept getting disconnected from one another. I had to drive several miles down the road to get a better connection. I had elderly family members & we had already driven 3.5 hrs to arrive. Vrbo worked to find us a solution. 3hrs later vrbo found someone to help. Apparently the owner was out of the country and didnt provide the courtesy of a contact person in his place. In total, it was nearly 3.5 additional hours after we arrived that we got in. Once in, we set to making dinner being it had been over 8hrs since we last ate. I didn't go upstairs until after dinner. What I found was a dirty bathroom sink with what appeared to hair clippings & an unflushed dirty toilet. So, now I had to clean the bathroom. When it was time for bed, I worried that might not be clean, too, but was simply too tired to care. Next day we found puzzle pieces behind tv we couldn't get to. During the stay, people were driving up to property to view, apparently it's for sale. We made the best of the rest of the trip, but had lost our entire first day. The cabin is nice and has nice views. Just the common courtesy of a back up contact would have made a big difference, and a better cleaning job!

Another fabulous visit to Winter Wy
Publié le 16 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed lovely spring weather for 5 days and then nearly 12" of snow came down in one afternoon! We had a great time walking in the silence of a brief "winter." Three days later, most of the snow had melted and the warm weather returned. Such a great experience!

Restful Cottage
Publié le 16 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe had a just right stay in Strawberry with our sweet dog and young teenage sons! A break from the Internet with lots of different DVD's, games/puzzles (though we just ended up playing the ones we brought) and easy drives to our outdoor play areas were appreciated.
We had a beautiful April snow with saucers available and built a couple of snow people.
Though some upgrades to the cottage have been completed, I preferred the hominess and ease that the cottage brought to our stay. The cottage had great cooking tools and the beds were plentiful. Thank you for opening your home to our family, including our fur baby!

Nice winter cabin in the woods

True Getaway
Publié le 29 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayTo take advantage of our son’s last week of paternity leave, with his 5 year and 5 month old kids, we chose the Winter Way Cabin, knowing next to nothing about Pinecrest, Dodge Ridge, or Strawberry beyond what we’ve seen driving through on 108. This is a special landscape, with the beautiful S. Fork of the Stanislaus flowing nearby and a wonderful collection of homes and cabins, both new and historic making up this rustic, wooded community. The cabin is nicely appointed with indoor and outdoor spaces, generous enough for all of us to play and relax.
