The cleaning lady did not lock our door one day. They gave us 2 small samples of shampoo but no body wash. The room was too small for both beds. The stairs were very tight! The wallpaper in the bathroom was very dated and the floor was very worn.

Great water views. Excellent staff.

Cons: If they renovated these cottages, this could be an amazing resort space. It has the energy -- it just needs a complete makeover.
We have stayed several times over this past winter at the Masthead while our condo is being renovated. The collection of cottages on the ocean has an appeal for those who remember the days in the 70's stopping in motels along the road on the way some long junket. The accommodations are pretty basic, but the views of the water, and the well worn nature of the place give it a character that is nostalgic and romantic. The staff there is truly accommodating, welcoming, helpful. They have responded to all of my requests -- for towels, blankets, more coffee, extra keys -- with a smile and a regal desire to make me feel comfortable. I recommend the Masthead for those who would like a trip down memory lane, and a little place out of the way, tucked at the very end of the Cape.

A charming place right on the water.

Pros: It has Ptown and New England charm, beautiful location.
Cons: The bathrooms, especially the shared one could have been cleaner. Shared bathroom was not cleaned during my 3 night stay. Staff was great.
Location: The beach right there, National Seashore nearby, plenty of shopping, people watching, nightlife and food within a short walk.
The staff was more than excellent, hotel and grounds charming. My only disappointments were the bathrooms could have been cleaner and more guest parking available.

The Term "Resort" in Their Title is Misleading

Pros: Location
Cons: More space to place suitcases, larger bathroom, better air conditioning, more accessibility to outlets, cleanliness.
Location: Location was good. It was on the strip but a little off the most congested area. Numerous things to do within walking distance.
The individual we checked in with was pleasant enough. She checked us in and answered some general questions then walked us to the building where our room was located. The building appeared to be a house which was converted to a "hotel" with multiple units. Our room was very old with a somewhat musty smell. There was a window air conditioner which strained to keep the room somewhat cool. The most disappointing thing was the size of the room. The shower was literally 3" X 3", barely large enough to turn around. The rest of the bathroom was 3 1/2' X 6'. The room itself was approximately 10' X12'. It had a double bed, dresser and desk. With these items, there was no space to put a suitcase without having to step over it. The television was a computer monitor connected to cable. We had to move furniture and the bed to find any outlets to charge our phones.

Nice View of the Water

Pros: I liked the location and the view
Cons: The A/C was a window unit & either too hot or too cold and right next to the bed so at night it is hot or cold. There was no place to sit except in bed
Location: Great location. Right on the water. We had bikes and rode into town for all meals and activities.
Masthead was a decent place to stay but not my favorite place I have been for a while. I liked that it was not right in the hustle bustle of town, but close enough to walk or bike to everything. I loved the view of the water which was awesome each morning and evening. The price was competitive for the area but not a steal deal.
