1.0 In hindsight, I would have ended my holiday early
I selected a boiled egg for breakfast, to break it open and discover it was raw. This describes my stay well. I stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of a 10 day tour of the riviera. In hindsight, it would have been better to end my vacation early. The hotel itself was fine, but the staff were jaded and the service lagged noticeably behind the other places we stayed during the trip. After this trip, I see the difference between boutique hotels which take pride in their legacy and corporate boutique hotels which are as sterile as a hospital. Among all the things I found bothersome, a celebration had been planned by the city on the street in front of the hotel. The staff failed to notify me of this at anytime during the stay. I learned of the celebration from a highway traffic sign as I fought my way back to the hotel through 2 hours of traffic. When I finally got back to the hotel, all of the parking had been taken by people not staying at the hotel. The staff could not be bothered to assist in any meaningful way. Once I had managed to park the car, the next 4 hours were spent in the hotel room with the window closed. Having the window closed did nothing to stop the sound from the concert right outside the hotel outside from entering my ears. Upon check out, the receptionist asked how my stay was. "Rough" was my answer. The staffer did not ask why my stay was bad, or if they could improve anything. This hotel completely lacks hospitality.
