"Very large room in a quiet part of the hotel and close to the swimming pool. Swimming was a pleasure as the water was warm and the pool large enough to swim actual lengths. Pleasant staff. Extensive breakfast buffet. Location looks remote at first glance but a good base for exploring Galloway or travelling on into Ayrshire."

"We stayed for 6 days over Easter. The hotel is surrounded by countryside and a few buildings nearby yet is close to Whitehaven. The views are lovely - out to sea and across to Scotland. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were always very friendly. We ate in the hotel most nights, enjoying the well-presented tasty food. My food intolerances were well taken care of. The Rosehill Theatre is not far away and we enjoyed our visit there. The garden is going to be landscaped so wasn't very inviting; the hotel is in process of refurbishment although we weren't inconvenienced by any ongoing work. We felt very relaxed staying there. It was convenient for days out walking and sightseeing."
