The staff is excellent, very professional and friendly. This an old downtown hotel that has been refurbished. Unfortunately, the entrance on the street side had a low unmarked step and I tripped and fell, breaking my knee.

They charged me $100 extra to bring an 18 pound poodle mix for two nights, despite being a "dog friendly" hotel. I guess that fee is buried somewhere in the fine print, but it was not clearly disclosed. Then, they didn't even clean the room before our second night! So what was I paying extra for? My dog did no damage to the property. The rooms were recently refurbished, which is nice - but more disclosure is needed and the dog fee is off market for the area/price of rooms.

Old but nice

It is convenient. It is an old school hotel but we enjoyed it very much.

Exactly as expected.

The Yorktowne is an old-styled grand hotel and the experience there exactly fits the stereotype of that sort of property. The main room is Victorian in style and opulent, the rooms are smallish by the standards of newer luxury hotels but adequate. In-room amenities are minimal and the decor is kind of stuffy but the bed is comfortable, the side chairs and small couch are more than adequate for relaxing and the desk holds a laptop nicely. Free wireless internet is a very nice touch -- I'm tired of hotels charging bucks a day for something that's free in every coffee shop in America. The only real criticism is that the bathrooms were very small by modern hotel standards and could use new fixtures. Service is just outstanding, as befits the hotel's history.
