We would stay at Carambola again because the room was huge and very comfortable. Loved eating breakfast on our own porch looking at the ocean and beach. The beach was very nice. We ate at the bar restaurant 3 times and it was very good every time. The service was good, friendly, and it had a great view. Our room was cleaned every other day. If staying here, you definitely need to rent a car. It is very far out. The roads in St Croix are awful. Holes everywhere. Now to the qwirks of the hotel: We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights. We had no wifi for the last 5 days we were there. They were working on it but we were not updated on when to expect service nor any apologies. We could not connect to any cell tower. They were too far away. One night at 11 pm my husband wanted to take a shower. There was just a trickle of water in the shower and in both sinks. We could not reach the front desk by phone so he got dressed and went there. No one is working the front desk at this time. He found security but they could not help him and just said they would put him at the top of the list for repairing our water in the morning. We did have water when we got up the next day, but found that anytime after 11 pm when we would use water there was just a small trickle of it. When we checked out, I told the girl about this and asked if they turned the pumps off every night. She said, Oh no not until 4 am. So we figure they turn the pumps off way before 4 am to save money.

The property is beautiful, and the beach is gorgeous, but that is where the positive things end. I don't like to Complain but... We stayed from Sept.16-22 When we checked in, we were informed that the main restaurant was closed until November, & the only food option was the Bar & Grill. We decided to give it a try, the service was horrible. There were maybe 4 tables and a total of 10 people there our wait for our food, fried fish, crab cakes & a salad was over an hour and a half. The staff did not check on us, ask if we needed another drink, or even bother to refill a water without us having to ask. We had to go to the bar for napkins, & when we asked for silverware it was an issue. Front desk after check in was a nightmare, We asked if there was an ice machine on property. There was not and the only way to get ice was to take our ice bucket to the bar after 11:00 AM and fill it. We had to request an ice bucket. It was as if we were a burden to them by asking for any kind of help with anything. Housekeeping was the bare minimum; the bed was made for us daily and that is it. Our towels were left in a bag on a chair, the floors were never swept, and the toiletries were just thrown on the counter or in the shower. Coffee and sweeteners were not refilled despite asking. Several days we would come back to our room to find bags or piles of trash just sitting on the common area. Marriott needs to send a quality assurance team down there ASAP and fix some issues.

Jenn, it's discouraging to hear about your recent stay. You are completely right in expecting nothing but quality dining experiences and attentive service from our restaurant team members. We also understand that efficient and caring housekeeping is a key part of making a stay comfortable and enjoyable. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you might have encountered. The matters you've raised are highly unusual and we assure you they are not typical of our service standards. We'll be addressing your points with the relevant colleagues to ensure improvements are made. Having said this, please know that we're committed to providing a better experience for you in the future and we hope you will give us another opportunity.

Stayed 2/25/23-3/1/23 in a beachfront room. Food at the Flamboyant was subpar and service is excruciatingly slow. I ordered a margherita pizza for dinner the first night which seemed to be a precooked crust with barely warmed ingredients on top, completely inedible. We ate dinner out the rest of our stay. The breakfast buffet is $25 for fake scrambled eggs, limp bacon floating in grease and sausage that’s not at all warm. I’m surprised I didn’t get food poisoning. The rooms are in the process of being renovated. I was there five days, my room was cleaned twice. There was lots of hair in the bathroom. The hot tub was not hot, and very dirty. One morning the server brought us a “complimentary” mimosa, only to add the charges to our bill later. The check in process took an hour and the room keys I was given didn’t work so I had to drag my luggage all the way back to the office to have them fixed. There’s a loose pit bull that will run up behind you and bite your legs and many stray cats roaming around. For almost $500 per night you’re better off elsewhere.

I had high hopes for this resort as this was my first time visiting the Virgin Islands and the resort. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and to make matters worse my stay was for a special occasion, my boyfriends birthday. I was very embarrassed that this was the surprise I “gifted” him and spoke so highly of leading up to the trip. NOTHING worked (the room was dirty, all the appliances and furniture looked like they came from a junk yard and should’ve been replaced decades ago, stove in our room didn’t turn-on, hot-tub didn’t get hot, resort spa was not-in-service, we had to wait for washcloths to be laundered, the cable didn’t work in our room or on the resort most of our stay) except for the staff. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, and appeared to be embarrassed themselves that the resort didn’t function properly or as advertised online. I expected so much more based on the reviews and ratings, I felt very deceived!

Took 2 hours 45 minutes to get bedding for pullout sofa, arrived at around 11pm. Took two days of requests to get a safe in the room which should have already been there. Worst mattress I ever slept on, and made my RA flair up terribly. Staff responded we will be renovating next week! As if that made up for terrible bedding accommodations. They should treat their staff more kindly! So sad, it is a gorgeous place but we felt as if they couldn’t care less.

The outside of the hotel was beautiful and the landscaping was amazing. When I opened the door to my room all the excitement rushed out of me. My room smelled horrible. It smelled wet and damp. There was not even one lamp in the room. Room had 2 ceiling fans, and the lights to fans were lined with dead bugs. Couch had stains all over it. Woke up after the first day, and killed a cockroach on the bathroom floor. Overall, if you’re staying here sleep outdoors. If you’re sleeping in your room, bring a scented candle and sleep in your clothes.

The staff were very friendly, however, the property could be much improved with a few small amenities, such as some paddle boards or sea kayaks that guests could check out. Also, there is no spa there, nor a dive shop (which was a big part of why I chose there to stay; lesson there is call the property directly to ask, I guess!) There is absolutely ZERO (and yes, I mean zero!) sound insulation, so you hear everyone outside and nearby. It’s loud, so be prepared for that. The room was very dark, and not inviting at all. The shower had no light, but these things could be easily improved by adding brighter lights. I am sure they are trying to be eco friendly with low wattage lights, but they went a bit too low- even with the few small window shutters open, and the lights on in there, it was extremely dark. The beach is nice. Overall though, I wouldn’t stay there again.

This was our Honeymoon. The first room we stayed in was very incomplete and we thought because of the island conditions we thought it was just how it was. There was a leak from the ceiling because it just kept raining. Our bed was the worst bed I have EVER slept in, it was like sleeping on a box spring sooo horrible! The TV was super small in our bedroom and had I guess if you wanna call it basic cable. We had just one TV. Then we had a random cutting board that was there to cover up what would of been a flat top which we had no clue about until we were moved into the second room. So since there was a leak they moved us to two buildings over. It was pouring and we had no help at all moving our stuff. If we did get help they would of waited way to long trying to get everything packed all up again. The second room was sooo much better it had even a better microwave to even the smart TV. We felt like we got an in complete room for our stay at first and that is very said to say because what you are paying for everyone should get the same exact thing. The staff was very nice though.
