"It being a former convent provided the stunning online photographs of Fourviere's check-in area, the shots that would immediately capture the eye of many-a-discerning traveler not fearful to seek the artfully unconventional while traveling, the hotel where the reception desk is situated across the archway frescoed lobby from a wooden structure that perhaps in prior centuries served as a confessional, which modern day guests no doubt would imagine that the dark brown timbered piece may have witnessed actual confessions long ago, perhaps hearing the 'guilt' of an aspiring, overly self-critical Lyonnaise chef confessing his perceived gastronomic shortcomings, perhaps to the ear of a culinarily satisfied cleric who may have indulged in that very chef's cooking delights just the evening past.
Fourviere Hotel Lyon is a charm, with its wondrous courtyard, serene gardens, modern outdoor lap pool, and the small touches such as the homage to famed citizens of Lyon on every guest room door.
It was no doubt a slow time, and I am sure in respect to energy conservation, I found the temperature of the steam room (unsure if this was meant as the 'haman'), as well as the whirlpool, would not be inducive to most true spa/haman afficiandos.
Other than that, the stay was faultless, although too short. Next time, I will surely partake in Fourviere's gastronomic offerings. "
