Hotel staff was courteous room was excellent and the breakfast was great. They made my stay in Montreal a joy. The hotel bar was awesome for a night cap at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good location

Intercontinental Montreal was in a good location to enjoy both old town and the annual comedy festival. The restaurant had major speed of service issues at breakfast due to no one to clean the tables. It forced us to relax though!

Waste of money

Wasn't able to check in the hotel because of an emergency. Hotel would not issue me a refund or credit. I lost $550 I paid for the two nights. I'd expect a 4.5 star Hotel to be better to deal with. I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

Beautiful hotel, close to everything...

Gorgeous hotel, gracious staff, with nice bar and restaurants. Loved the location, and SUPER safe town. Comfortable room with bath tub and shower separately with comfy pillows. About only concern was parking was $25 a day, and didn't convert American dollars, nor do most local restaurants. They take it, but not at conversion rate, so it was a lesson for me, to make sure to prior to arrival. Pool pic appeared to have a hot tub, but young lady at desk clarified, there wasn't, so not certain what I saw in pic; maybe child's pool. And do believe I read there was a complimentary breakfast with up charge for full, and upon arrival, when pulled up email, could not find where I had seen it originally. The young lady at desk, almost seemed versed at handling exact situation, and did offer the upgrade at no charge. In spite if minor issues, hotel was beautiful and worth the money...

Great location, Terrible Customer Service

We have stayed at other InterContinental Hotel in various cities, but this one does not meet up with the luxury we expected. The hotel is nice and very well specious. It was walking distance to downtown, old Montreal and Chinatown. But the concierge, front desk and valets don't work closely and not very helpful. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready. Front desk asked us to see Valets to leave our stuff but there was nobody for more than 30 minutes. When we called the help desk from our room, we tried several times but they haven't answered. We ended up with holding for 3 minutes until we reached someone. Our booking was paid through a travel website in advance but they charged again when we checked out. We also requested a special room setting for our special occasion upon check-in prior to our stay, however, it wasn't arranged or anything. Very disappointing. If you need a high quality standard customer service, this is not a right hotel. If you just need a comfortable bed and great location, it might be OK.

Very nice hotel

Pros: Everything
Location: Walked most of the time apart from the hoponhopoff bus and covered everything we wanted to do in the few days we were there. Subway station was close
Hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to do, we arrived by cruise ship and walked to hotel, although it was uphill! Hotel was well decorated and furnishings in the public rooms and bedroom were comfortable as well as modern. Had buffet breakfast two mornings, was included in our room rate and was good. We had dinner in the restaurant on two evenings, the food was excellent both times and the service was excellent but the food was a little slow in arriving particularly the second time. The room was comfortable and a good size. My husband liked being able to just turn on the light in the shower so he was not blinded if he went to use the facilities in the night when he was half asleep. Overall an excellent hotel with friendly efficient staff. Made our visit to Montreal very enjoyable.

nice, clean and elegant

Enjoyed our stay and the location to old Montreal was perfect.   exit from back of hotel and walk 2 blocks and you are at the notre dame.   we loved walking around there with lots of little shops and restaurants.   Parking on street behind hotel for $16.00.  Our car was safe there.   Lost a star for no free Internet in room.

Great location and with an absinthe bar to boot

As much as we would have loved to have stayed in an classic old hotel in the historic district, we needed to find a hotel close to the historic district that had one specific modern amenity (a fitness center).  It is hard to go wrong with an Intercontinental hotel, they are a global company with a good reputation.  That being said, each Intercontinental hotel is unique so you never know exactly what you'll find.  The Montreal Intercontinental was a very nice choice. The rooms were spacious, clean, had a great view of the city, and was within easy walking distance to the heart of old town.   Oh, there was even an absinthe bar in the lobby, which was a pleasant surprise.  If I had anything bad to say about the hotel, it was the fact that they charged for internet access ($15 per day...which was almost as much as the daily parking fee).  Having stayed at a competing hotel chain the night before with free internet access, it is often hard to reconcile the notion that any hotel in the 21st century needs to charge for internet access.  If fees need to be assessed then at what point is it reasonable to stop charging fees?  Should there be fees for using their soap and shampoo?
