Casa Sofia with view by Wonderful Italy

Cozy apartment in one of the alleys of the historic Pedamentina stairs, declared a UNESCO heritage site, which connect Vomero district to the historic center of Naples.

The apartment is on the second floor of a building from the XVII century of Neapolitan baroque architecture, without an elevator, and overlooks a citrus garden with a view of the Vesuvio. Inside it spreads over two levels. The entrance opens onto the living room, furnished with a dining table, a comfortable corner sofa bed and a desk. An opening gives access to the independent kitchen, fitted with all amenities including an oven and a kettle, all the necessary cooking tools and a floating breakfast bar with stools. A staircase in the living room leads to the mezzanine floor, where there is a queen-size bed. A bathroom with a bathtub equipped with a curtain shower completes the layout.

Free wifi, washing machine, heating with a heat pump and air conditioning in the living room will be available in the accommodation.

*The area is not reachable by car, so access is not recommended for those with reduced mobility. The meeting with the welcome agent who will greet you will be in Vico Pedamentina a S. Martino, 33, Naples.

We also offer to our guests truly authentic experiences to live like a local. If interested, contact us and we will be more than happy to help you out designing an unforgettable holiday to discover Italian beauties.

“When you go to Naples you cry twice: when you arrive and when you leave”, people say. Naples is a unique city, to experience by walking through the alleys, smelling the scent of gastronomic delicacies in the air and admiring its rich artistic and monumental heritage. Naples is at the origin of a peculiar culinary tradition for its famous Neapolitan pizza, and the art of its pizza makers has been declared an intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Walking through Spaccanapoli, the street that cuts the city in half, you will cross its millenary history thanks to the presence of ancient palaces and churches, such as the Cathedral of Naples and the Maschio Angioino. If there is a symbolic place of Naples, this is Piazza del Plebiscito, today a symbol of the new "Neapolitan Renaissance" where tourists come to admire its grandeur and its two jewels: the neoclassical colonnade of the church of San Francesco di Paola and the Palazzo Reale. Today it is also possible to visit "the underground city", or the so-called "womb of Naples", used by the Neapolitans as a refuge during the bombings, where tourists can cross the Greco-Roman aqueduct, the air-raid shelters and finally visit the Museum of the War.
Not to be missed is San Severo Chapel which houses the sculpture of the Veiled Christ, one of the most fascinating and mysterious works that can be seen in Naples, the result of the talent of Giuseppe Sanmartino.

The train station is around 5 km from the apartment, while Naples Capodichino airport is easily accessible in a 15-minute drive.

Wasn't great for us, but it might be perfect for you!
Let us explain. The listing is accurate; we just weren't paying attention. Research the Pedamentina stairs in Naples before deciding to stay here: the stairs provide lovely city views, but there are over 400 steps, and this property is right in the middle. Apparently some people *run* these stairs, but they aren't ideal for a 60-ish/70ish couple (us). Likewise, the bedloft; the stairs are really more of a ladder, so we opted to sleep on the couch rather than risk death by midnight bathroom break. Condition of the place was mixed: high-quality, spotless linens, plenty of blankets, but the footboard in the loft was broken, lamp and overhead bulbs needed replacing, the large burner on the stove is finicky, some of the dishes had been "washed" but still had visible food on them, and there were no kitchen towels or napkins of any kind. Also no place on the main level to hang clothes. As elsewhere in Italy, you must pack your trash out to the city bins: here, that means carrying it more than 200 steps up or down, your choice. PLUSES include a large bathroom with soaking tub, a large window facing roughly east (so, morning sun -- but shutters if you don't want that), beautiful citrus garden outside the window with Vesuvius in the background, and a clean, efficient clothes washer. Also, someone left a pot of basil on the kitchen windowsill, a thoughful gesture.
