Phu Quoc Dragon Resort could have been better
Mushroom grow in the bathroom, lizards visit at night, lots of dogs bark at night and on a noisy road if you are unlucky. On a positive side, huge accomodations, walking distance to restaurants and shops, nice pool, good buffet breakfast. Staff hardly speaks English but they are thoughtful. They even gave us a cake on our son’s birthday.

Mouldy room, lack of maintenance
The resort has huge potential but unfortunately it lacked general TLC and had substantial maintenance issues. First the positives, it was a lovely setting, near to restaurants, within a 10 minute walk to the beach and within a 15 minute drive to the night market. Now the negatives. Our bathroom was very mouldy - see pictures attached. Our bed room was also mouldy but at least attempts had been made to remove it. The pool lacked maintenance, e.g. one sun lounger had a broken leg and instead rested on a pile of stones. The cooked breakfast (freshly made omelette and fried eggs) was nice but the fruit had insects crawling on them. Overall, we were really disappointed, especially as we had read good reviews and the room was not particularly cheap. We stayed at similarly priced properties in Vietnam and they were all okay. We would not stay again.

Property is overall OK / Nice and staff is great. However our room was bordering with school and we had significant level of kids noise from 7am till 4/5pm. We asked twice to change our room but it did not happen. Breakfast is excellent and beach near by (15 min walk, 7 min bike ride) is beautiful and not busy.

Worst hotel service I’ve ever had...
Worst service I’ve had at a hotel, and I’ve stayed at quite a few whilst travelling... we only stayed one night. Started by the hotel forgetting to pick us up from the airport (despite repeated email confirmation 2 days prior), they told us to just get in a taxi when we called them, no apology or offer to pay the taxi etc. Upon arrival they said they were confused and forgot to arrange the transfer. The second was forgetting to return our passports to us (this is also us to blame). We checked out of the hotel and the receptionist didn’t check our room folder where they held them after check in. Luckily we moved to a hotel 10 minutes drive away, so could return by taxi. The third is me having to negotiate a goodwill gesture as a result of the airport transfer mess-up. This is customer service 101 when you mess-up as a company! The room was ok. The bedroom was clean and to a good standard. The bed was massive, but was extremely hard! The bathroom needed some maintenance; lots of damp / discolouring on the walls and door knobs nearly falling off. Pool is in pretty good condition. The mushroom rain shower was not in use whilst we were there. Quite a few tiles missing from the pool. WiFi is ok at its best. It frequently drops out for an hour or so then reconnected (both at the pool and in the room). Not many bicycles to rent for the number of rooms.

Relaxing place
Very relaxing accommodation. Great swimming pool. We enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners at the resort. Staff were nice and very helpful.

Quiet and relaxed
Waitress was pretty sour but overall the staff were very helpful. The paths are super slippery in the rain but it was a good place to stay, quiet and relaxed. Villas were clean and tidy with everything you need for a great stay.
