Hotel is older and needs updating. The rooms were clean and bathroom was updated. Food was excellent. Restaurants we went to were all good. Staff was friendly. Entertainment shows were terrible, it was like watching a bad 5th grade talent show. Not much night life. Beach/water was all seaweed and unusable. Pools were nice, but tile was cracked in places and needs updating, cut my hand getting out. Pool activities were ok, but mostly in spanish and hard to understand, we spent most of our time at the smaller quieter pool. They are very pushy about trying to get you to visit their time share presentation. When we went to downtown Playa Del Carmen to shop, we were “harassed” by people claiming to be Blue Bay Staff who are off that day, wanting to sell us stuff, they were at every corner, I think they recognize the wrist bands. Overall the trip was fine for the price we paid. If i had paid more money, i would have been disappointed, but if you want a value priced resort its a good option.

quite resort

Pros: Relaxing atmosphere
Cons: Provide better ATM facility. Pest control to eliminate ants and lizards in room and hallway
Location: Very expensive
Limited shore area - too much weed and on shoreline. Quality of meals was average . Food lineup on Christmas dinner at 8:30pm after having RESERVATION was over an hour. By the time finished dinner Desert gone.

Old and needs help

They are celebrating 10 years and the property shows it, many things tired and run down. Majority of the staff (not all) seemed unhappy and we very seldom got a "hello" or "hola". NO swim up bar or disco. The show venu only has fans in a small area, and the rest is pure hell heat with no circulation. Food is what you would expect. They have a shuttle service that is run very poorly and people just jump on with no regard to others that have been waiting. Postive: they have free wifi.

Good event planning by the pool, good food and price for inclusive stay. The beach could be better and pool by the beach was too crowded on the weekends. Smoking in designated areas would be better. Overall we are satisfied with our stay, place is well maintained.

Not up to expectations

This resort has a nice staff and a beautiful view. However, our room smelled musty and we frequently smelled sewage while walking around. It is on a large area and a lot of walking may be required. There is a train if you are not into that, but the train comes around about every 15 min. The food at the buffet was OK at best. We did make a reservation at the steakhouse one night and that food was great. The shops on the resort seemed way over priced. The underwater camera I purchased cost 25 US dollars, and the swimming trunks were priced at 50 US dollars. The shuttle service, which was not connected to the resort, was terrible. The name of the company is Super Shuttle. If you are traveling that direction please do not use them. They lost my prepaid reservation when we got there. When it was time to pick up and go back to the airport they showed up an hour early from the appointment time and left without trying to get a hold of us. When we called them the call was not picked up.
