Our family of 5 stayed at Snowshoe's Mountain Lodge for a ski weekend. Our friends stayed a few doors down the hall, so we had the chance to see two different rooms.
The good: the location is very good, right at the edge of Snowshoe's Village, with easy access to the Ballhooter lift. There is a parking lot for Mountain Lodge guests adjacent to the building, making it easy to get in and out. Both of our units were recently renovated and were clean, so our stay was relatively comfortable.
The bad (check-in/out): unfortunately, there is a lot to improve at Mountain Lodge. Check in had to be done at Allegheny Springs, which led to some confusion when we arrived. The parking lot attendant was drunk and said that we needed to have our $#&! out of his lot by 11:00 AM on the day of checkout. (Inconvenient since we skied that day; we had to move the car to the Top of the World parking lot, a half-mile away.)
The bad (condition): Mountain Lodge is dated. The shared facilities show their age. It is clean and the numerous sitting areas have decent furniture (great for a friend with a twisted knee), but the building feels like a college dorm. Each room is owned and maintained separately, so furnishings and decor are inconsistent. And unfortunately, the infrastructure is aged. Temperature control in the rooms is bad and noise from the hallways is very loud at night. Even the renovations feel like "lipstick on a pig."
Overall: There are much nicer places to stay at Snowshoe.
