Be Warned - Know Before You Go!
Pros:nothing
Cons:The property needs long overdue restoration and modernization. There is no pool or a/c anywhere on the property.
Location:The adjacent town was impoverished and not tourist friendly.
I returned from St. Lucia last week and could not have been more disappointed with this "resort". I relied upon positive reviews I read, but I wish now that I had also read the negative, as they were spot on don't know if the reviews Regardless, this is a tired, dilapidated property that clearly has not been modernized or updated since the 1970's when the owners purchased it. For $500 plus a night, this is in no way a 4 star property and is more like a 1 or 2 star KOA campground. The property is an hour away from the airport and the last 2 miles require traveling on a treacherous, pot-holed road. Again, cheapness is the theme here, and it must be by design that the road has not been paved. As a result, you're completely isolated once on the property. There is no option to go off property as Soufriere is an impoverished, depressing town Anse Chastanet is a disjointed property with non air conditioned cabins which are stark and small. You can hear everything in the attached rooms, as one wall is shuttered and which needs to stay open for any chance of air circulation. Beds are covered in mosquito netting which conveniently isn't portrayed on the website. The cabins are spaced throughout the property, and you must walk down unpaved, rocky roads to get to the main lobby/restaurant area. Then from there to get to the beach, you must climb down 100 steep stairs. Everything here is treacherous and inconvenient. Food was mediocre at best and extremely over-priced.

Captured audience
Pros:Staff was unbelievably trained in exemplary customer service behavior.
Cons: Timing of excursions were a little too early. Not a great option for kids.
Location:We felt very safe there. Exploring the island didn't seem to be an affordable option.
Beautiful, relaxing. The food was expensive (but worth it), the meal plan is the way to go; exploring the island, in general, didn't seem to be an option, taxi's were way over priced and roads were too dangerous to rent a car and go for it on your own. Water was awesome, scuba, yoga, biking and hiking the property were our exercise-outlet.

Wonderful vacation. Something for everyone especially those who like sports and a lush landscape.
Pros:stunning location, entertainment nightly, super dive shop and dive sites, many fun activities, good food, staff is eager to please
Cons:the cost of the food and activities really add up, furniture and decor could stand an upgrade
Could not ask for more in a Carribbean vacation except perhaps a smaller price tag. This idyllic location has it all; good food, great activities, super nice guests and staff, two fine beaches. If you are coming from New York take the Jet Blue flight to the international airport. The alternative is Caribbean Airlines which we found to be really poor with delayed flights, time consuming connections, dull staff and a long winding drive to the resort. Why did I not know this? We loved the genuine tropical experience at the resort. It is luxurious but in a relaxed way. If you must have air conditioning, sleek decor and expert 5-star dining this is not for you. we love the open air rooms and excellent food and quirky decor. There are over 150 steps from the upper rooms down to the beach so you need to be in shape for this resort. The views are spectacular. My 16-year old son loved everything about the trip. We really enjoyed the clientele.

Outstanding nature, views
Pros:Quiet, beaty, super nice people
Cons:no grocery store, can not have a small light breakfast
Amazing location with Piton views and Caribbean views, beautiful beaches. Very quiet, yet has lots of activities. Service is great, and not annoying. I liked the fact that rooms have no TV, phones do not work- this is VACATION!
Nice restaurants, but if you do not get a meal plan, you will spend more $ for separate meals. If you get a meal plan, you end up eating too much. No grocery store on premises.
The mosquito coil is lighted every night in the room- do not let them do it, it has strong chemicals, should be only done outside. Not that many mosquitoes anyway.

Heaven on Earth!
Pros:Quiet
First of all GET THE MEAL PACKAGE! I cannot stress this enough. When I booked it I did not, but do to a very small kefluffe by the hotel for which I was most richly rewared, I received the meal plan and OMG. I don't eat much and this was my first class trip as a reward. YOU NEED THE MEAL PLAN.
I love this resort and am saving my pennies to return. I encourage solo travelers to go there. It is amazing and they treat you like a queen (or king :) ) it is so peaceful. There is no internet, no phone and no pool. Sounds scary, no? Remember books and talking to people and making friends for life with strangeres you meet on vacation?
I was pampered and it was awesome. The black beach was a bit weird to get used too right up until the time the banana daquiris made with fresh local bananas started to arrive. And people from other resorts come because they don't have a beach like AC does...but it is truly an experience not to be missed.
Can't wait to go back!

Classy amenities presented in a culture of kindness describe the Anse Chastanet Resort.
Cons:their time passes more rapidly than ours at home
In this St Lucia jewel we found the anticipated offerings of a world class resort: pristine tropical bay (anse), a nearby private, secluded beach accessable by resort-provided speed boats, gourmet offerings at every meal, tree top accommodations beautifully appointed yet without mainland distractions such as TV, laptops, etc., and, an impressive list of recreational activities available.
It was the kind, well trained staff which gave Anse Chastanet the distinct superiority versus other resort experiences. Their French, subdued background and island culture wove into the presentation of fine food and services delivered with kind, attentive, yet fun flair. Want to experienc perogatives suitable to royalty, offered in style? Here's the place. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Anse Chastanet.

A beautiful place on the Carribean Sea with wonderful people caring for your every need. Although we are visitors, we act as guests on this Island and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. When we visit one of the four restaurant areas, it feels as if we are in someone's dinning room and the waiters and waitresses are the hosts. These people work very hard and probably should be compensated more for all they do, but the latter is prevalent in many of the Islands, where the 'help' do not benefit from the large profits. We tell ourselves that we are helping the people by being there so they may have a job, a catch22 scenerio, so... Other than the above, the Resort is excellent , the food out of this world. It is a protected respite situation and you can be as relaxed or as active as you like. There are many things to do, dive, snorkel, hike, swim, dance, sail, etc. Basically a fine vacation spot, many honeymooners and many couples of all ages.

"Sweat"
As an airline pilot I have traveled all over the world. When I was looking for a honeymoon destination I wanted to find a beautiful, unique, and romanic spot. I searched the net and came up with Anse Chastanet Resort. I knew it did not have air conditioning and thought if they needed it they would have it. I was wrong. I grew up in South Florida and am use to heat. I would have to say that we were uncomfortably hot at least 50% of our week there. I have tent camped in almost every state and this was only one comfort level above camping. We paid over $* for a room that had no electrical receptacles in the bathroom. The resort has no pool so your only way to get cool is an ocean swim or a shower. Even the restaurants are open air. It was not all bad though, the rooms are beautifully built and the natural beauty is abundant. The staff is friendly and very attentive. I am an avid scuba diver but I did not go diving when I found out how regimented and restrictive they are. Two experienced, certified divers are not permitted to do a beach dive without a baby sitter. I suspect this is about collecting a fee. The food service is also very restrictive. For example; hors d oeuvres are not available in the bar. The beach is gray volcanic sand and does not reflect the light like some of the turquoise waters of other Caribbean islands. There is no fitness facility but you will get plenty of exercise walking between the beach and your room. It is equivalent to walking up a ten story building. The scenery is beautiful but did I mention that it was HOT.
