What you can expect

Take an off-road adventure over the rugged terrain to Madeira’s northern coast. Discover everything from charming villages nestled within subtropical valleys to vineyards perched atop massive sea cliffs. Then observe the flora and fauna of Queimadas Forest Park before travelling along the coast.

Rendezvous with your tour guide in the lobby of your Funchal hotel, and then board an off-road vehicle en route to São Vicente, a 17th-century village lain at the bottom of a beautiful subtropical valley. Near the village are underground caves made by flowing lava from a massive volcanic eruption 400,000 years ago.

Next, head eastbound to Santana where colourful triangular stone houses with straw thatched roofs dot the coast. Near the village is Queimadas Park where you can tour through the subtropical laurisilva forest to observe the indigenous wildlife and learn more about current conservation efforts.

The final stop is the small picturesque village of Faial, located on the northeastern coast of the island. It rests atop sea cliffs that break abruptly at the shoreline, creating magnificent views of looking outward into the vast Atlantic. After touring the village, make a return trip to your hotel in Funchal.
