What you can expect

Get to know the capital of Vietnam as your guide leads you through 1,000 years' worth of sights in Hanoi. From the One Pillar Pagoda and the bustling streets of the Old Quarter to the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum, you can see the most remarkable destinations in the city.

Once you meet your guide and driver for the ride out from your hotel, pay a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum for a look at the final resting place of the revolutionary leader. Just next door, you get a look at Ho Chi Minh's historic house and the One Pillar Pagoda, a reconstructed temple that was originally built in 1049, perched atop a single column.

Next, continue on to the Tran Quoc Pagoda, a towering Buddhist temple on the shores of West Lake. Pay a visit to the Bat Trang pottery village before you stop at a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, your guide shows you the Temple of Literature, a Confucian centre of study built in 1070 as Vietnam's first national university, whose gardens and well-preserved architecture give you a relaxing look at the country's past.

The last leg of your tour takes you past the peaceful waters of Hoan Kiem Lake and the beautiful Temple of the Jade Mountain, connected to shore by the vivid red span of the Welcoming Morning Sunlight Bridge. Finish with a trip through Hanoi's Old Quarter, where you have a chance to do some shopping before you head back to your hotel.
