What you can expect

Take a break from the city at the Forest Reserve Institute of Malaysia, a green haven that is a 40-minute drive from the city’s centre. The rainforest hosts 354 species of flora and fauna that provide clean air, rich greenery, and an opportunity to reconnect with nature.

Step into the reserve and breathe in fresh air as you examine the many species of plants that call the forest reserve home. Stroll through the foliage and have a look at the beautiful collection of traditional timber houses, some of which were built in the Malay traditional style, without a single nail.

Marvel at the silicified Mersawa trees that were buried in the Javanese volcanic eruption millions of years ago. The volcanic ash preserved the tree trunks and trapped water with silica, which slowly seeped through, replacing wood tissues over millennia.

For a change of scenery, step onto the canopy walk suspended 98 feet (30 m) above the forest. Head home feeling refreshed in mind and body after spending the day with Mother Nature.
