What you can expect

Discover one of Florence's most beautiful architectural landmarks, the Medici Chapels. Your exclusive, skip-the-line access means you waste no time in line and enjoy as much as you wish exploring the chapels and admiring Michelangelo's exquisite sculptures.

Situated in the Basilica of San Lorenzo—the private church of the Medici family—the Medici Chapels are 2 architectural treasures.

Skip the line outside and start your visit at Sagrestia Nuova (New Sacristy). This small room was designed by Michelangelo as a mortuary chapel for members of the Medici family, who were known as the most important art patrons of the Italian Renaissance. See the 2 large tombs of Lorenzo and Giuliano De’ Medici and admire the allegorical figures on top of them that represent night, day, dawn, and dusk.

Head to the octagonal Cappella dei Principi (Chapel of the Princes), which is surmounted by a tall dome and features polychrome marble and rich mosaics. The 6 marble tombs in the walls are empty because most of the Medici family are buried in the crypt beneath the basilica.
