Description

Spend a day exploring the dramatic settings where key battles unfolded during the Allied invasion on D-Day, June 6th, 1944. Get up-close looks at Normandy beaches where thousands of troops lost their lives to German forces and visit the cemeteries and memorials set up to honour their sacrifice.

Ride out of Paris after getting picked up at your hotel and enjoy watching pastoral scenes blur past the window of your comfortable shuttle. Reach France's northern shore in the late morning and make your first stop at Pointe du Hoc, where clifftop German artillery units fought back Allied advances on Omaha and Utah Beach. Enjoy a guided tour of this strategic site and then continue on to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial to spend moments of reflection among fields of white marble headstones.

Reflect over lunch at the Ferme de la Rançonnière, a 13th-century manor house-turned-restaurant that offers delightful plates and light French fare. After you eat, make your way to Arromanches-les-Bains to snap photos of the remains of artificial piers used to unload Allied equipment. Visit the beaches where Canadian troops made their own landing on D-Day at Juno Beach and then climb back on your comfortable coach for your return ride to Paris.

Sample menu includes:

  • Kir cocktail with canapes
  • Warm terrine with locally produced cheese
  • Gourmet chicken breast
  • Wine and mineral water

Our tour guide Alex was amazing from start to finish. He picked us up on time and we were off to Normandy. He was so knowledgeable and shared with us so many facts about the landscape along the way. He answered all of our questions and allowed us time to take in the sights. The best part about Alex was his kindness and smile. His warmth just radiated and made our excursion exceptional. I would highly recommend this tour to friends and if they got Alex they would not be disappointed.

A great day with a small group. Visits to Omaha Beach and American Cemetery and small villages, beach memorials. A fantastic and beautiful lunch at a historic farm manor. Overall a wonderful and moving day!
