Description

Uncover the secrets of intelligence and espionage during WWII from a British perspective on this guided tour of underground London. Explore the bunker where Churchill and his aides plotted victory over Hitler, and venture out on an exploration of 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

Starting in the streets of Westminster, walk past famous venues including 10 Downing Street, the residence of the Prime Minister. Stroll past the Houses of Parliament, eminent Big Ben and splendid Westminster Abbey. As you come across the statue of Winston Churchill and the statue commemorating the women of WWII, gain insight into how the people of London coped during wartime.

Next, venture down the steep steps of the wartime bunker that houses the Churchill War Rooms. This underground maze of rooms once buzzed with round-the-clock planning and plotting of strategies and secrets, and is a unique piece of living history. Today, the rooms remain in the exact same condition as when they were last used in 1945.

Listen to real audio excerpts of Churchill’s inspiring wartime speeches, learn about the history of the special relationship that developed between Churchill and then-US President Roosevelt and uncover personal details of the lives of these celebrated and heroic leaders.

Arrogant guide (Phil), info about WWII on the walking part mediocre, actual war rooms, overrated, avoid if you are claustrophobic. St. James Park across the street is free and lovely. Waste of money.
