Charming private townhouse-style lodging, a block from the harbor

Chestnut Sweet, a two-floor townhouse-style apartment, is located in its own building in one of Marblehead's historic neighborhoods, called the Shipyard. Ideal for two adults (or for a couple and one guest), the Sweet is quiet and private, a gentle, fireplaced respite from your day's activities: swimming at nearby beaches, playing tennis and pickle-ball, sailing, shopping, and dining in town, and enjoying Marblehead's rich history. Everything is within easy walking distance. The Sweet features, on its first floor, a sitting room on the garden with a convertible twin-size guest bed if needed and large closet; a living room with flatscreen TV and gas fireplace; a kitchenette (coffeemaker, countertop oven-grill-toaster (we are not zoned for a full-size stove), microwave, electric kettle, and small fridge; full bath with rain shower, laundry facilities, and easy, private ground-floor access. Its second floor offers a queen bed, half-bath, skylights, ceiling fan, large bureau, and closet. The Sweet has full AC, plus wonderful sound-proofing throughout, making it a truly relaxing and private get-away. Guests will have bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels to use, and a pair of congenial hosts who are available 24/7.

Great stay!
Very nice host, lots of small attentions, we even got a small tray with food (cheese, crackers, fruits) when we arrived! The apartment is in a small house, behind their house and we can take advantage of their beautiful garden (we had our own space with table and chairs). Good location in a quiet street at about 15 minutes walk from the historic district or the Devereux beach. Would recommend without hesitation.

Charming Oasis
Chestnut Sweet was charming and cozy and offered everything you could possibly want or need for a private relaxing stay. In a quiet neighborhood but within easy access to great restaurants, shops and entertainment. And only a short walk to the ocean. Francie and Bob are very gracious hosts. They are meticulous and warm in their attention to detail. All the simple things that make you feel welcome. The Sweet is well cared for both inside and out. I am looking forward to booking our next visit !

Elopement Weekend!
I cannot say enough good things about this property!! Staying at the Chestnut Sweet was truly a dream - such a welcoming, cozy cottage with every amenity and comfort you could think of. The location is in such a nice neighborhood as well, very convenient and close to lots of restaurants, shops, and sightseeing. We especially enjoyed playing (the provided) Scrabble while drinking wine by the fireplace. Francie and Bob are the most kind hosts you will encounter, they made our elopement weekend so special with memories we will remember forever! My husband and I did not want to leave and we can't wait until we can come here again. If you're thinking about staying at the Sweet, you absolutely should - you will be so glad you did!

Perfect place! 💗
I made a solo trip to Marblehead for vacation and this property was perfect for my getaway! The cottage was super clean and cozy and had all the amenities that I could’ve needed. There’s a gas fireplace in the living room that was perfect after being out in the chilly air all day seeing the local sites. Francie and Bob were amazing hosts and were available 24/7 if I needed anything. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable, safe place close to everything. I definitely would stay here again and already miss Marblehead! ✨

Extraordinary home away from home! Beautiful, warm, every comfort imaginable and then some.
This homey, gorgeous guest house couldn’t have been more perfect. It’s even more stunning than in photos. Hosts are lovely and attentive to every detail. We’d love to stay again, or maybe forever!
