At Clean Slate you will enjoy beautiful peaceful clear water and a fantastic view of Smith Lake from every room in the house. Clean Slate was built in 1975 and remodeled in 2012 to include natural slate throughout the house, all new appliances in the kitchen, and handmade unique furnishings. Relax in the den or simply step outside onto a patio that leads directly to a covered boat house 20 steps away. Located on a smooth deep quiet creek, it is a wake boarder, surfer, skier or fisherman's dream. There are four bedrooms, two have queen beds, one a full, and one has two twin beds. A living room upstairs can easily accommodate a blowup bed(not included). The kitchen/open living room combination has a table that seats six. Watercraft lovers will be pleased to know that Clear Creek boat ramp is only 3 miles away and Duncan Bridge Marina is 15 minutes by water. PLEASE NOTE Smith Lake water levels vary throughout the year; contact us for more information. The pictures where taken early in the year and the video was taken between late September and early October. We do NOT advertise that there is a beach!

First you come to a very confusing parking situation. The property info seems pretty strict on the parking but doesn't warn you about the very steep drop off or incline. Definitely DO NOT drive a car. When you walk in the door, the smell of wax warmers hits you. I would not consider it a 4 bedroom. The room that has twin beds is when you walk in the door so I wouldn't allow my children to sleep there for safety concerns. The twin beds are slanted and looks like if you sat on them they would fall apart anyways so not an option for us. The pillows and pillow cases have stains all over them as did the towels in the upstairs rooms/bathroom. There was a hole in one of the bed covers with the insides coming out. It seemed like none of the bedding or towels had been updated in at least 10 years. If your looking for a place to party with your college buddies, it would be great. We made the best of it. It is very quiet and in the summer I'm sure the lake is awesome. It had great views of the lake and was peaceful. I've just never stayed at a short term rental with the amount of outdated beds/bedding and towels. Sam's club and Amazon basics have pretty decent towels and bedding for rental properties it would go a long way for guests.

Vintage Lake House
The house is exactly as described! Beautiful part of the lake and we had peaceful mornings with coffee on the back porch. The boat ramp is so close and easy to use for your boat. Only negative is the mattresses need to be replaced. We had 6 adults & everything in the house functions well. We brought a Blackstone table top griddle where we made most of our meals outside. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Needed improvement
Could definitely be cleaned a lot better. Had to go buy our own trash bags. Not enough linens if planing on stay a few days. Would recommend a suv or truck to get up and over hill or must park on top of hill if in car. 0 service would love to see some Wi-Fi in case of emergency and wouldn’t mind having to spend another 25-50$ a stay for the Wi-Fi.

Lake front cabin
If you are looking for a restful get away with the phone not ringing this is the place for you. At&t and cspire both have no service at this location, but for a group of over worked adults this was a major plus in our book. The cabin does come equip with a land line, for local calls, in case of an emergency. The number of the owners are also posted. We enjoyed a swim in the lake off the pier and even rented a boat and tube from a local it was a great experience. (Pro tip, the lake doesn't allow any open containers on boats so be aware of that) The cabin was very tidy and clean, the only complaint we would have on the cabin would be the beds. Now, I love a good DIY but the stability of the bed frames where lacking. They could use some attention; I also wish the mattresses were newer. Other than that one aspect everything was five stars across the board. Thank you for letting us enjoy your little slice of paradise.

The house needs wifi because there is no phone service. I own a businesses and have family. This day and time it is a essential if someone need to reach you whether it's businesses related or family related. Also the hot water was not working correctly.

Last minute Thanksgiving booking.
We were fortunate to have booked the house at the last minute during Thanksgiving. We loved the location on the lake, the water, rock outcroppings, and foliage from the deck were amazing! The house just needs to be brightened up on the inside. The windows were very dirty, cobwebs inside and out, the deck had many layers of leaves so we couldn’t really enjoy it. Other than that this house could be a Gem!

Disgusting house
If I could leave negative stars, I would. I don't even know where to start. We rented the house on the lake for 3 days. After staying two, my wife said she couldn't take it anymore and we had to leave. There is no way to paint a picture of how nasty the inside of this place is. The coffee pot is broke and taste like vinegar, cobwebs hanging over the shower. The cobwebs were so big I think they've been there since May. Pubic hair in the bathroom, long strands of hair in the refrigerator. There's a large deposit. The owners give you a list of things you have to do before you check out. Normal things like strip the sheets off the bed, take the trash out but it goes on and on from there. You must sweep the floor or we will keep your deposit. You must turn the AC down or we will keep your deposit. All dishes must be in the dishwasher and running or we will keep your deposit. If you bring too many cars, you lose your deposit. It reminds me of the apartment you rented in college knowing you weren't getting your deposit back. Now let's talk about the sleeping arrangements. The mattresses on the three beds that are there have to be from 1982. You can feel the springs poking through it. The cookware there is from the 1960s and has never been updated. This is obviously a cash cow write off for the owners. No money has ever gone back into it and I will really be surprised if we get our deposit back. My wife cleaned it and it's in better shape when we left than it was when we got there. Don't walk on the bare floors in your sock feet, you'll be disgusted. The only thing positive I can say about this is we had a roof over our head. Other than that I've been in horse barnes with dirt floors that are cleaner. As I mentioned before, my wife was so grossed out we left a day early. After mentioning this to the owners they said thank you we'll let an exterminator know. There's too many other options on Smith Lake. We chose wrong. Don't do the same.7
