How close is Diamond Hotel to downtown Addis Ababa?
The lounge was an excellent idea.
The breakfast options were pretty limited, a wider selection of a more continental breakfast would be a great idea.
Also I thought the hotel has a massage service, perhaps they should consider having this. Overall I would give the hotel a 7/10
Horrible property. Nosey, bathroom smells and no fresh air. We had to change rooms due to noise but didnât help much . Front desk staff argues with each other and on personal phone while customer waiting . Hard to enter building as there is a coffee pot and stools blocking the entrance . They offered free shuttle from airport but they didnât show up and we paid for taxi. Elevator not working and we had to use utility elevator. List goes on
Overall the property is quite good - but there are a few things that diamond hotel needs to fix in order for me to stay again. The staff is nice and decent breakfast and genuinely try to be helpful and nice. The internet is painfully slow, I can barely load a standard website. At night, there is a club below by Diamond that blasts music from 4pm until 2am. You can hear this even on the 6th floor of the hotel. I occasionally find some small bugs in my room, but overall the room is clean and tidy. It needs more plugs though, there's only 2 in the whole room, and none by the desk.
The three biggest thing for me are 1) that I chose the hotel for the gym it offered, but when i got there, it wasn't ready. please do not falsely advertise a gym. the manager defended that it was "being built". that's okay, don't advertise that you have one then. 2) the washroom has this sewage odor that wouldn't go away no matter what. it made the room smell quite unpleasant. 3) also the wifi is one of the slowest I've experienced in addis. i can barely load a website
This recent start-up is very elegantly furnished in a modern style. Comfort levels are high. A bit 'boutiquey' in that the public spaces are not large. The staff's command of English is low. The bar does not have a cocktail menu. No doubt because this was low season, half the items on the restaurant menu were unavailable. But then Africa is not the continent of haute cuisine.
