This is indeed a quirky inn. Brochures suggested large common rooms with N Mex style art; those were never encountered. The interior badly needs renovation. The room was ok, but we were on the outside, too noisy / traffic. You should ONLY reserve a room that faces the inner courtyard. Things were not well maintained. The "business center" was not functioning - imagine - so no boarding passes. If you asked for room work it was a question of whether the right guy was there or not, apparently usually not. Requests for more than one room chair were heard but not acted upon. The breakfast service was pitiful. The TV there was too loud but at least it wasn't Fox News. The 24 hr Fox News propaganda screen was hidden in an alcove with NO viewers, which was an improvement over the usual hotel management choice.The staff were very friendly and cheerful. Not in a nice area, but we only needed a home base. The beds were very nice. Laundry room was fine. So, a mixed report, but it was ok. We might stay there again if visiting.

Overall it's awesome stay. Breakfast could have been protein like Meat products. Being a diabetic. There was not much to choose from. The outdoor pool is one of the best I've been to in sometime . Staff was good people. The maintenance off my first night broken ac was fixed the next day . Restaurants all over the area. Walmart down the road meat. I

The big empty lot in front threw me off . Once there, plenty of safe parking .Nice clean lobby. Rooms are nice . Outside indoor pool was nice , hot tub and gym adjacent to pool. Property is huge. Walked over to neighboring hotel (Crown Plaza) very nice hotel with restaurants/bar. Nice calm stay. Felt safe on property. Staff was friendly at check in/out. Near freeway. Menaul street lends itself to World Market , Vintage Vault , Coronado Mall . Will return

Casual and close to everything

It’s a very laid-back atmosphere my room was facing the sunrise and the sunset. It was nice and cozy. My only complaint though is that there was no soap. Luckily I did pack up our soap before I left home. There is a brand new restaurant that opened up. That’s right next-door. Well maybe a block away from the hotel and their food is excellent and affordable. La Sierra. I highly recommend this restaurant, friendly atmosphere and fast service.

For the price, this was not a terrible hotel. It was likely a spectacular property in the 1980s. Decent breakfast, and the shower water pressure rocked. The bed left a lot to be desired, though, and the neighborhood lacked dining options, and didn’t give a very safe vibe.
