no response from manager/owner
We could not get into the unit upon arrival because the manager never provided the access code for the door. tried contacting them through text and phone, but got no response and only an answering machine. After multiple hours of no response figured the unit was a scam and that we were ripped off. ended up booking hotel rooms for 6 people at a cost of 850. later that evening finally heard from the owner, we moved to the unit since it allowed all of us to stay in one location, but the hotel would not provide a refund. I would expect VRBO to provide the 850 refund if not a full refund for this unit for our additional expenses to make up for all the trouble and hassle we endured not being sure if we were going to have a place to stay for the weekend, and for having to move from one place to the other multiple times. I expect some type of compensation or full reimbursement of my expenses due to the poor management of this rental. The owner once he finally responded had no idea we were even booked for the rental and didn't know who we had even booked through. The place had not been cleaned prior to our stay, we had to strip and wash the dirty sheets that were strewn on the bed and the wet towels, as well as having to clean the bathrooms and kitchen with disinfecting cleaner. There were multiple bags of trash sitting outside the unit and the curtain rod in the living room had one side pulled out of the wall as well as a hole in the wall near the dining table.
