Single level layout, pet friendly with notice, and family friendly through and through.
The Space:
Our home on Brandon Road is one side of a duplex on a quiet residential street, and we set it up specifically for families and smaller groups. Three bedrooms sleep up to 7 guests, with the kind of layout that gives the parents a quiet primary bedroom and leaves kid rooms for the rest of the family.
The home is an open concept layout, which means the living room flows into the dining area and kitchen, and the cook is never far from the conversation. The dining table seats your group for the kind of meals families travel for, and the living room has a TV and Wi-Fi for the rainy afternoon and the easy evenings.
The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking together. Full size stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, ice maker, rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, toaster, cookware, baking sheets, dishes and silverware, and wine glasses. The setup handles real meals, not just reheats. There is a laptop friendly workspace if a parent needs to work through the trip.
The home is suitable for children ages two to twelve and infants under two, and pets are welcome with prior notice. There is an indoor fireplace for the cooler Panhandle months.
Outside, you get a BBQ grill on the patio, outdoor seating, a garden and backyard, and a two car garage in back of the home plus driveway parking out front. The single level layout means no stairs to haul luggage. Private entrance with a smart lock, towels, bed linens, and the family travel basics are all included.
Guest Access:
You have this entire side of the duplex, including the kitchen, all three bedrooms, the living room, the backyard, and the garage. Private entrance with a smart lock code that we send a couple of days before you arrive. Check in is from 3pm and check out is by 11am. Garage code is shared at check in.
The Neighborhood:
Brandon Road sits in a calm, established Amarillo neighborhood with mature trees and the kind of quiet street that lets the kids sleep through. You have quick access to I-40 and I-27, which is the rare combo for trips both across town and south toward Palo Duro Canyon State Park. West Texas A&M in Canyon is close for a campus visit, and the Don Harrington Discovery Center and Amarillo Botanical Gardens are good kid friendly stops. The Big Texan Steak Ranch is a fun first night dinner, and downtown Amarillo with the Civic Center is an easy run for shows, concerts, or a dinner out.
Getting Around:
Amarillo is a driving town and this house is set up for that. Two car garage in back plus driveway parking out front. Quick access to both I-40 and I-27 means you can get across town or south to the canyon fast. Rental cars and rideshare both work from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Other Things to Note:
This is one side of a duplex on a shared lot. The neighboring side is rented to other guests on a separate booking. Non smoking, no parties, no events. Pets welcome with prior notice. The home is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit.
Interaction with Guests:
We love giving guests their space and respect your privacy. We are nearby and a quick message away through the Airbnb or Vrbo app, or by text if that is easier. During the day we usually respond within the hour. We are happy to help with local recommendations, restaurants, or canyon route advice.
How close is By HWY, by Palo Duro Canyon to the airport?
This vacation home is 15.7 mi (23-min drive) away from the Amarillo, TX (AMA-Rick Husband Amarillo Intl.) airport, the closest popular airport to the property.
My family was in the area for my youngest daughters college graduation from West Texas A& M University. We enjoyed our stay. The home was located within 15 minutes from the campus in Canyon Texas even though we were in Amarillo. The location provided easy access on and off of I-27, very convenient for our needs.Angel was a great host checking on us throughout our stay. The communication was excellent.
The host was nice, professional, and communicated quickly and proficiently when I had questions prior to our stay. The property is older however has been updated, was clean, cozy, well-stocked, had comfortable beds, and has a new AC unit which kept the property very cool and comfortable during the summer heat.
Do Not believe the Listing on this one ... AWFUL X 100
This was the worst VRBO experience we have ever had....bad enough that we will NEVER rent another VRBO anywhere. It does not sleep 12. There are three bedrooms with queen beds. Anything over that they expect you to sleep on air mattresses or the couch. Our youngest visitor was 51 the oldest was 87....no one wanted to sleep on the couch. Also, it was filthy. bathrooms were gross, cabinets were not finished...the vanity did not connect to the wall creating a weird space. under the sink was a mold like substance. Poor lighting, and the only ceiling fan was in the main room. And the most unbelievable part, there was no air conditioning. If you have ever been to Amarillo in June, you know this was not optional. So when we tried to open the windows there was not a screen anywhere. So, there was no was to cool down. We were burning up! We requested a refund. There is no way this property should be rented. They said we should have let them know, but when the air conditioner is in pieces, i am pretty sure they already knew. Plus, the fans they would have brought us was not going to help. This is a scam, and it cost us a lot! one star was way too generous. Beware!
