A beautiful, bright and private studio room situated in a recently renovated Amsterdam eco-houseboat. It has an en suite bathroom and stunning view over the IJ water. Located in the city center, nearby the famous 'Jordaan' area.

Hello and welcome to my home at Excelsior BnB!
I'd like to invite you to my recently renovated houseboat and be one of my first guests. After an exciting time or extensive refurbishment, I'm thrilled to finally open my doors for you!
So if you're looking for an authentic stay in Amsterdam, you've come to the right place.

This eco-friendly houseboat is ideally located in the Zeeheldenbuurt, at a quiet place in the 'Oude Houthaven'. It has stunning views over the IJ water and Amsterdam North and is within walking distance of the city center (8 minutes).

Staying at my boat will make a contribution to the environment. By heating through a sustainable water heat pump, the houseboat uses 5x less energy, emits no COÂČ and does not burn fossil fuels.

The 40 sqm private studio room is equipped with everything you need. It has a comfy king size bed (180 x 200) with crisp, white sheets and window ceilings above your head to gaze at the stars.
Start your day with a Nespresso in the relaxing sofa and settle down in your life at sea.

The ensuite bathroom has a bath with stunning views over the harbor, a separate shower and luxurious bathroom amenities from Marie-Stella-Maris.
This room has a separate toilet.

We offer free Wi-Fi in the entire accommodation, use of bed linens, and towels.

When we arrived, the key wasn’t in the key safe. Arie quickly answered our call and upgraded us to another room, which was great! It’s truly an experience to remember to sleep in a boat house. Loved the view and quietness. It’s a 20 minute walk by the water to Centraal Station. With a rented bike, it took less than 5 minutes and it is the best way to get around in my opinion. Highly recommended!

Annonce non conforme à la réalité

Nous avons Ă©tĂ© trĂšs déçu par notre chambre (ce n'est bien sur pas un studio comme dit en titre de l'annonce) et ce pour plusieurs raisons. 1) Nous n'avons pas eu la chambre de 40 m2 qui est dĂ©crite et prĂ©sentĂ©e en photos dans l'annonce mais une chambre plus petite (max 25 m2) avec une prĂ©sentation diffĂ©rente, par ex pas de WC sĂ©parĂ©s, pas d’accĂšs direct au pont.... 2) La description de la chambre est incorrecte, voire mensongĂšre: il n'y a pas de table pour manger, le balcon se rĂ©sume Ă  une palette posĂ©e sur le pont de la pĂ©niche, il n'y a pas de bateau annexe comme mentionnĂ©... Finalement il n'y a ni placard, ni penderie, ce n'est pas idĂ©al pour passer 1 semaine, tous les vĂȘtements par terre dans ce petit espace... Nous louons depuis plusieurs annĂ©es, il arrive que des propriĂ©taires aient plusieurs chambres ou appartements non prĂ©sentĂ©s sur le site. Lorsque la chambre prĂ©sentĂ©e n'est pas disponible, ils le signalent et en proposent une autre avec prix et description... Nous n'avons pas vu Arie ni son frĂšre. Nous avons bien entendu envoyĂ© un mail pour dire que notre chambre ne correspondait pas a celle que nous avions louĂ©e et payĂ©... Pas de rĂ©ponse... Aucune. La chambre de 45 m2 Ă  cotĂ© Ă©tais en fait libre probablement dĂ©s le Mardi. Ils auraient, au minimum, pu nous proposer de nous transfĂ©rer (nous sommes restĂ©s de Samedi Ă  Samedi). Finalement la prĂ©sentation devrait clairement dire qu'il s'agit d'une chambre dans une pĂ©niche qui en comprend plusieurs. On pourrait penser Ă  la lecture avoir une jouissance privative de la pĂ©niche.

Fantastic Stay

Super cool property, nice quiet spot to stay, super unique and cool. Comfy bed and big bath tub with a view of the water while you bath. Loved going out on the deck and having my coffee with the sunrise. Everyone I ran into was super friendly. Very quite area and good spot to get a good nights rest, while also only 20 minute walk from all the fun night life. I would definitely stay here again, perfect Amsterdam experience. Host is super easy to get a long with also, made check in experience beyond easy.

House barge studio

While we enjoyed our 2 night stay and the host was very responsive, we have to be clear about our experience. The “houseboat” is more like a barge and has 3 apartments on it. We stayed in the studio. The location is not what we expected, thinking we would be within a 15 minute walk to the center of Amsterdam but it was more like a 15 minute car or bus ride, plus a walk. There wasn’t much of a selection of dining options within a close proximity. The space was very nice; clean and recently renovated.

Amazing Experience

I wanted somewhere special for my Girlfriends 30th birthday and this was the place. It was Amazing, seemed newly renovated, clean and in the perfect location. Quiet, walkable to the city center and easy access to the bus/trams to get to the Centraal station. The area was quiet and peaceful with nearby cafes/restaurants. BAK was amazing and right next door, recommend reservations. I don't have anything negative to say although there were other people staying on the boat at the same time we did not hear them much. The room was big and nice with amazing ambiance and lighting. Definitely the highlight of staying in Amsterdam for my girlfriend was the house boat. The port holes open up for a nice view of boats passing by. Would definitely stay here again if I was in Amsterdam, the location was perfect.

holiday impressions on the houseboat

It is very interesting and special to live on the houseboat. We had a lovely few days in beautiful Amsterdam. Overall, i'm with the positive reviews... I think in addition you should know a few things about the studio apartment: The boat contains the owner's apartment and several guest rooms - that are separated from each other by drywall. Orientation on the boat is initially difficult - as none of the various entrance doors are marked. The studio only includes the room with the bed and the bathroom. All other pictures of the ad show other parts of the boat. The small seating area on deck can only be reached from the outside. Subjectively, i think the 40 sqm is doubtful, in fact the studio looks much smaller. There is no way to store the clothes - no wardrobe, no regal, no coat hanger. The few existing kitchen utensils are open on the very small minibar fridge. There is no kitchenette or cooking facilities in the room (so the term "studio" could be misleading). Airing is only possible via 1 porthole in the room and 1 in the bathroom, so it can get very warm in summer. The portholes cannot be covered, so they may be easily visible from the opposite pier. The owner are very friendly and (sometimes) respond to inquiries. The ad text suggests a recent renovation, but according to the owner, this was 5 years ago (status 08/23). Overall, I feel the property is expensive in relation to what you get. This rating reflects only my opinion.

Boat House Experience

This was my first time in Amsterdam and first stay on a house boat. Arie was an amazing host! GrĂ©Ăąt view of water and sunsets The space was spotless and well equipped . Arie’s communication was exceptional ! He was also very thoughtful. I apparently slept through a rare thunderstorm during my stay. 5 Stars for structural support and safety! The only downside to my stay was I didn’t rent a bike in West Amsterdam . So I had to Uber or walk . I would definitely suggest a bike rental as the center can be a long walk for someone who doesn’t walk much. Thank You Arie. !

Lovely and unique stay!

I'm so glad we booked this property for our trip to Amsterdam! It's a short walk to the 48 bus stop which can take you to and from the Centraal station so it's easy to get to the heart of the city but the neighborhood itself is quiet. The room is just a good size bedroom and a bathroom but had everything we needed! Communication with Arie was great and he gave perfect directions to get there (even though my jet lag kept me from following them perfectly, lol) My husband and I were so glad to have found a place with a true King size bed so we didn't feel cramped sleeping. I hope we can make it back to visit again!

Almost perfect

This is a studio dorm apartment with no kitchen, and one bathroom (not two like the description says). It is one of two units off of the hallway, and there a small common area that has the couch and microwave (these are not in the unit like the pictures make it seem). The pictures make it seam like there is a lot more to the unit than there actually is. The stairs are just how you get down into the boat, it is not a multi-level unit. Also, make sure you try to get into the correct lock box for your keys. If the code the host gives you does not work, try the other lockbox. That being said, this is still a very beautiful place, just maybe a bit more expensive for what you get. Feels recently renovated with a gorgeous bathroom and massive tub. Portholes can be opened to hear the harbor's noise to add to the vibe.

awesome weekend stay

My partner & I had a wonderful weekend stay. The room is super cool and even better than the photos. The bathtub was incredible. If it was a little bit warmer I would have jumped out the window from the bathtub right into the sea! The walk into the city center was lovely and we also rented bikes from the host. Arie was super kind, friendly, and easy to communicate with. We will for sure stay here again in the summertime.
