The home gave us a place to sleep and be out of the elements but the toilet was about to fall through the floor, wind was blowing through the windows, not enough bedding and the crazy neighbors stole our chair because they had broken theirs. Didnât realize the train was right outside our bedroom and it blows the whistle every 2 hours. Again, we needed a place to stay and the home did the job.
So many issues... 1) Does not have a finished ceiling as shown in pics. Metal roof was exposed to the inside, rusted, and had holes. 2) 6' radius water stain in corner of LR carpet. BR carpets were badly stained, as well. 3) Cabinetry old and signs of mice in drawers. Signs of mice in BRs and bath also. 4) Fixed arm faucet installed on double basin sink so water hit divider and had to be twisted to avoid splashing exposing holes where hot/cold water lines were supposed to be. So, cold water only. Same problem with bath sink. 5) Toilet rocked on the base and water leaked out all over when flushed. 6) Wifi didn't work at first. Discovered it was plugged into an nonfunctioning outlet. 7) Sliding kit window did not open for fresh air, and screen door glass was stuck in partially open position and no screen over it. Also, threshold was a trip hazard.Contacted manager immediately (Sat afternoon) about the rocking, leaking toilet. He said he couldn't get anyone there until Mon, but offered to move us to the trailer next door. Did not want to move to another property by this owner assuming it would be just as bad. No one showed up to make repairs on Mon. Left on Tues. Contacted VRBO, who kindly offered me a small credit to use on a future VRBO stay, and required owner to issue a partial night's refund.Thought I had submitted a review on this property shortly after returning home. Did not see it posted, and now 3 months later, received email that owner responded.
I was pretty disappointed with my experience. We booked and paid for this stay up front. The Tuesday before our stay the host told us the unit was being repaired and that it might not be done for our Friday night stay. We were not contacted prior to this. Turns out the property would be completed and we could still come for our stay. I appreciated the communication up until that point.
When we arrived the unit seemed ready. However, there was no central air. There was a window unit in the living room and a portable unit in the back bedroom. These did not keep the unit cool. We had to go purchase fans ourselves to make it bearable to stay in the unit. I contacted the host to see if there was anything we could do and never received a response from him at all. The place had bug traps all over and what looked like black mold by the hot water heater. Part of the living room carpet was also wet our entire stay.
This was my first experience using Vrbo, and now I am not so sure I will use this app to find a place again. I was disappointed by the lack of response when we said we had a problem with the unit.
