Avis pour Outdoor enthusiast's dream with designer interior & Mt. Equinox views
We stayed at this Vermont property for Thanksgiving week. The home itself is beautiful â striking architecture, tastefully decorated, and welcoming upon arrival. It has great potential as a rental, but several issues impacted our holiday stay.First, the listing advertised an oven, but the only option was a small countertop convection unit that couldnât fit a cookie sheet or large pan. For Thanksgiving, this forced us to completely change our family meal plans. Second, the fourth bedroom is only accessible through the master, which limits privacy.Heating was the most difficult issue. The home relies on three wall mounted heat pumps, which were not sufficient to warm the downstairs bedrooms or bathrooms in late November. The owner said in the information at the home that space heaters are in the two downstairs bedrooms, but these were missing and only provided after three days. The owner controlled the thermostat and refused to turn on the furnace, insisting it was âbackup only.â Our safety concern was that a space heater should not be the primary heat source for a bedroom. Only after raising this did the owner finally activate the furnace on day four.Vacasa, the property manager, was responsive and tried to help, but their ability to resolve problems was limited by the ownerâs decisions. Overall, this is a beautiful home, but guests should be aware of the kitchen setup, bedroom layout, and heating situation before booking.
The living room where wee spend most of time is big and comfortable with wood fireplace !
Finally for my family is good house with no major complaints , below see good and bed from my point of view:
What is good:
Take me 36 min ride to Stratton Mountain Resort.
Very short distance to Manchester for lunch/dinner and shopping.
Big and nice parking lot.
Big living room with wood fireplace.
Bedrooms have extra electric heater.
House is clean when we coming.
3 bathrooms save lot of time in morning.
Bed:
This house is really good for 7 persons, not 8. (But-1 bed in 1st floor and master in 2nd fl 2 persons sleep together, itâs good for 2 families)
Slept 7 comfortably in bedrooms, 8th person must sleep by TV in couch which is not good because its no doors to this area!
Heating system, when wee coming it's 55 degree in house and all night its cold at living room. (Heat pomp heating system do not give enough heat for this large area)
Bumblebees (or sorting like this) in second floor master bathroom.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful Vrbo rental! The house is tastefully designed with so many thoughtful details that made it feel both luxurious and cozy. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped and we loved relaxing by the fireplace in the evenings. The home had everything we needed for a perfect getaway, though we did wish there was a BBQ outside for outdoor cooking. Overall, a wonderful experienceâwe would definitely stay here again!
Great place- easy access to downtown and outdoor activities
The house was very clean, we came prepared knowing there was no oven- so we utilized the stovetop and the outdoor grill. My only suggestion is to put in the listing that the house is located to the right of the garage. I arrived thinking it was the main house and was wondering why there was no lockbox. We enjoyed the house and its close proximity to downtown- we will definitely consider staying here again!
We booked this place for a long weekend over the Christmas break, for a family ski getaway.
On entering the house, I noticed a musty odor, but it had been wet and raining when we checked in, so we let it go. Then my husband sits down on the couch and notices some âgritty stuffâ. We thought âmaybe the last guests left some crumbs that were missedâ. So we actually found a vacuum in the closet and cleaned it. Also within the first few minutes, I noticed a fly inside the window. Got it, no problem. Then noticed a few more along the windowsill.
Not the best start, but we werenât going to let these little things spoil our trip. So we went to the supermarket, picked up some food and firewood for the beautiful fireplace. No fireplace tools. A call to Vacasa, the management company, (which is in Oregon, not Vermont), and the very nice lady said we should just use another piece of wood to poke the fire. Um, OK. So we improvised and made the most of it.
But it gets worse. On closer inspection, we noticed stains on a lot of the furniture. And black spots on the floor, which turned out to be burn marks and dead flies. There were actually dead flies on every windowsill, and throughout the house. When it came time to get the kids ready for bed, more flies upstairs. I got one, then another, and another, and before I knew it I had killed a dozen flies. Then we noticed a spot in the corner of the ceiling that looked like black mold in the master bedroom. In the main floor bedrooms. there were mouse droppings on the beds and nightstand. We actually found a mouse hole chewed into the box spring of one of the beds!
Another call to Vacasa first thing in the morning with all of our grievances. They promised to contact the local property manager and see if we could be relocated. We already paid for lift tickets so I explained we could not wait around and gave them permission to enter the house while we were out. I made another call to follow up midday. They said they were still waiting on the property manager. When we returned to the house that evening, it was clear that no one had been there. I made another call and told them we were leaving. I then spent the next several days on the phone trying to get someone to actually help us instead of pushing us off to someone else. Eventually we got our money back, but not how I wanted to spend my vacation. Worst experience ever.
We truly enjoyed the house although were disappointed to learn that there was not a true oven. It was a bit cold upstairs as well and some electrical issues, but the management company responded quickly to out requests and sent someone quickly to repair it. The fireplace was beautiful, cozy and perfect for the family to spend quality time by the fire. We would stay here again.
Beautiful home, cozy and comfortable for 2 families
The main room was breathtaking! Couches super comfortable. Slept 8 comfortably! Quick ride to Manchester for dinner and shopping and we skied Bromley and Stratton.
