Cannot beat the location - 5 minute walk to the Metro and Bus stations as well as a variety of restaurants in a variety of price ranges. Safe enough area where we felt okay to walk around. The staff was beyond helpful. They knew English well and helped us navigate the local Metro and Bus stations along with answering any other questions we had. Heard another guest having issues with getting the wrong room size and heard them offer to move an extra mattress to their room from another floor to correct the error. Upon arrival they also notified us of a bus strike going on that particular day in the city and offered to arrange us taxis if needed. Above and beyond service. I'll be honest that the room was average in quality. Nothing amazing or spectacular decor wise, but comfortable and practical and perfect for our needs and budget. Akin to a chain hotel in the US in terms of room type and quality. What tipped the scales towards excellence was the amazing breakfast! Started early for tourists still adjusting to the time and they had a wide range of food selections to appease everyone - many of the local breakfast foods to try (breakfast pies, traditional cheese and custard pastries, chocolate loafs, several greek yogurts, large coffee bar with a variety of types and brew options) as well as basics of eggs, a huge fruit tray, cereal, potatoes, even Chinese breakfast offerings for Asian tourists. By far the best and most filling breakfast buffet. Would return just for that.

Absolutely Perfect!

I was in Athens to run the marathon and wanted a hotel that was: (1) close to the finish at Panathenaic Stadium (2) close to public transportation for travel to the expo, (3) in a location close to where the buses were provided for transportation to the start of the race in Marathon, and (4) close to Syntagma Square for catching the 24 hour express bus (X95) to the airport the day after the race. Well, this hotel fit the bill for all of the above! It is directly across the street from the National Gardens (a beauty in itself) so getting back to the hotel from the finish just involved crossing through the gardens. The buses for transport to the start in Marathon lined up in front of the Old Royal Palace in Syntagma Square, one block from the hotel. The T4 tram to the expo could be caught directly in front of the hotel. Metro from the airport and the express bus back to the airport are both easily located in Syntagma Square. I had a double deluxe room on the 6th floor (room 608) which has a balcony that overlooks a part of the Royal Gardens, the Old Royal Palace and Mount Lycabettus. The staff at the front desk were all very friendly and helpful, speaking near perfect English. Lastly, I must mention the breakfast buffet which was included in my room rate. Amazing, I have never seen such a variety of food displayed. They even opened the breakfast buffet 2 hours early on marathon day for us. Bonus: Brigante Restaurant is a block away, best Italian food I've ever eaten.

Great hotel with comfortable rooms, king-sized beds, amenities, and helpful staff. We had an early morning flight and came down to the lobby at 4:30am to see complimentary coffee and snacks for guests.

Great hotel in the heart of Athens

Pros: I liked everything about this hotel - I would return anytime I need to be in Athens.
Great hotel - perfectly located right across from the National Gardens. We had one night at the end of our Naxos vacation and the Amalia Hotel was perfect. It is easy to get to - located 1 block south of Syntagma Square / metro and many buses stop right near by. The hotel is very pretty - modern and well appointed. Staff are lovely and professional. We checked in and were upgraded to a gorgeous 6th-floor suite with wrap around balcony and incredible views of the mountains and Parliment. The rooms were nicely decorated and linens and bathrooms were very nice- clean and modern. The hotel's breakfast buffet is great - pretty much anything you want thye have including crepes made to order.

Great location and price.

Pros: The location was great. Walking distance to everything of interest and still in a nice, quiet area. The bathroom has a nice over-sized tub for showering or soaking. Also printed our boarding passes, which was helpful.
Cons: Wifi was a bit weak. I'm required to type more, but can't think of anything.

Great Experience

Pros: The location and the breakfast buffet.
Cons: There was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room.Program selection on satellite TV was limited. No airport shuttle.
Location: Shopping, dining and sightseeing.
The hotel is in a perfect location to tour Athens. Minutes from bus tour stops, light rail station, shopping and restaurants. Easy walking distance to Plaka, Monstraki and the Acropolis. The hotel is located across the street from the National gardens. I would heartily recommend this hotel for first time visit to Athens because of its central location and transportation access. The Hotel is very modern, very friendly with a helpful staff, reasonably priced and has an absolutely tremendous breakfast buffet. We chose this hotel based on the reviews of previous travelers and I must say all of the good things reported about the hotel are true. I am very happy to have spent five days there and would do so again.

Beautiful hotel in the middle of everything!

The roof top view is a must see at this hotel. Minutes from all major points of interest and watching the bustle of Greece at night is exciting from the spacious room balconies! I would stay there again!
