Chickens and Flowers, urban oasis in the heart of Atlanta
Enjoy a little bit of nature in the middle of the city! Walk the rows of wildflowers (when in season), saying hello to the chickens in the backyard or curl up in a comfortable bed with a good book or movie. We provide fresh eggs (when available), coffee, WiFi, Netflix and HBO. This sweet little Bohemian retreat is conveniently located near many Atlanta attractions. Overlooking an urban Flower Farm (Chattahoochee Queen), we aim to offer our guests a slightly different experience.
A garden oasis in the middle of the City! This is a functional and modest space, a different experience than staying at a hotel. The space comprises one side of a concrete block duplex. Itâs about 500 sq ft, shotgun style space with a great view of GA Stadium & downtown. We strive to maintain a home that is eco-friendly and low impact. This goes in keeping with our vision for creating a sustainable, urban farm experience in the middle of the big city.
Weâre only a few blocks to Grant Park, Atlanta Zoo, Eventide Brewery, and the storefronts of Summerhill. 1.5 miles from the Capitol & Georgia State; 2 miles to the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Park, Philips Arena, and the Beltline.
We naturally treat for bugs, but this is the South and a farm. There is the occasional spider or bug.
Please also note: There are 2 portable A/C units in the space, but it can still be a little warm on extremely hot and humid summer days. We have a gas heater that keeps everything toasty in the winter. The water heater holds 20 gallons. This is enough for a decent shower, but not a very long one.
First pet is $50, additional $20 each.
Guests have access to front and backyard. They are also invited to introduce themselves to the farmers and respectfully tour the farm. If you go to the farm, please wear appropriate footwear and proceed carefully.
I enjoy meeting our guests if they would like to interact. Generally, I try to give them their space, but am readily available for contact if they have any questions.
The Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta was one of the cityâs oldest African-American communities and was once a flourishing retail district with a diverse community. Famous entertainers and influential city leaders like former heavyweight champion boxer Evander Holyfield, singer Gladys Knight, and business mogul and philanthropist Herman Russell called Summerhill home. It's worth taking a walk down Georgia Ave just to see all the murals, but the food options are also enticing! Check out Southern National, Little Bear Dinners (Michelin star) Little Tart Bakeshop, Big Softie, Halfway Crooks Brewery, Hero Donuts, Wood's Chapel BBQ, Junior's Pizza, Talat Market Hot Dog Pete's. We're only a few blocks to Grant Park, Beltline Trail, 2 miles to Centennial Olympic Park, Philips Arena, CNN, world of Coke, Mercedez Benz Stadium, and Georgia Aquarium.
Uber and Lyft readily available, but only several blocks to Marta bus line.
This is a duplex. Please refrain from loud noise making between the hours of 10am and 8am. The pullout sofa is not comfortable. Itâs ok for kids, but not recommended for adults and light sleeps lol. We try to leave eggs for our guests, but sometimes our chickens go on strike due to weather or molting. Eggs are not always available.
