We went to the Queen Concert so fantastic location. No AC meant it was very warm as no air from outside could get in. One thing to pass on is to give a description of how to find your room as we arrived after the reception was closed and had no clue how to find our room. Luckily we found someone that could help us.
Key collection was quite inconvenient as located in the very centre of the CBD, a fair distance from the accommodation and located in a safety deposit box.
No information regarding the location of the room within the building was provided and no signage within the building to assist, I had to ask a number of residents for directions to the room as there is no Reception.
The lifts and security doors worked intermittently and the fire escape door was permanently open just a few doors away from the apartment, which did not make us feel very secure.
There was an overwhelming smell in the building which thankfully was undetectable within the room and big groups of people hanging around at the entrance of the building at all hours, this worried us to the point of using the permanently open fire escape to enter and exit the building.
(We were in Room 329, pic featured is NOT the room we were in) )Summer, high temps & humidity and the room had no fan or air cond.., almost unbearable, and to be perfectly honest ruined our stay. We had both windows wide open, but with no breeze it was stifling, it also bought in mosquitos and also the noise from other apartments (I guess they all had their windows wide open too), babies crying through the night, and other sounds, that did disturb us. It was a night of discomfort with the extreme heat/humidity & very little sleep. Room was not clean, crumbs all under and around the toaster, dried food in cupboards and drawers. Also find our room was really difficult. Its a maze in this old hot musty smelling building. Lastly, collecting the key.. you hahve to go to the other side of the city (no within walking distance) and collect the key form a safe box first- absurd! Upside was very pleasant online team, and closeness to the Arena for the show we were at. We wont be going back.
These apartments are located in the old Grand Central Station building in Auckland. The location is quite good, close to shops and restaurants. However, the building itself is strange.
As it is an old, historical building, there is no staff on hand for assistance. There is no signage to direct you and it is a very large, confusing building to navigate (we had to ask a resident). The building is also very noisy because of its old windows and the fact that the train is right beside. There is no air con so the rooms are stifling hot and there are no fans!
Overall I felt a bit uncomfortable staying here even though the room was clean and updated. For $200 I wouldn't suggest these rooms as you can get something much more suitable with air-conditioning and a front desk for around this price.
Had to go into the City to get the room key! Got to the accommodation and didnât realise the black plastic circle chip was to be used to open the main door and someone at reception yelled at us to use our key. I said sorry, we have been given an envelope with no instructions-he said oh you book online and laughed..... got through the doors and the area was huge! There was no map of the area. Walked up and down stairs and corridoors -finally found room when someone asked if we were ok? They kindly showed us to our room. Got to room and as it was 100% humidity it was awful- two heaters but no aircon or air flow...... bed was tiny and had no mattress protector just sheets and a duvet cover with stains. Holes in the pillowcases. Room could have done with a good clean-carpets, walls etc were dirty.
Very disappointing, not worth the $$$ we spent for the night. But it was very very close to the Arena for us!
