Upgraded Kiwi Bach , 5 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 12)
Fabulous South and West views over Mokau Beach all the way past White Cliffs to Mt Taranaki, which our builder claims has the "Best view in Mokau". Stroll on spacious, wild and exhilarating black sand beaches with bleached driftwood and big surf. Warm and very cozy whatever the season and love the Sundowners ! You really won't want to go home.

"Mokino" is situated in a friendly cluster of 7 houses midway between Mokau and Awakino (each 3mins by car). Shared foot track provides direct access to the beach below, a right turn will bring you to a small cave and waterfall. Great fishing from the beach (kite/torpedo/drone) or cast a line at the Mokau or Awakino river mouths, also whitebait during season (September 1 to October 30). Excellent beach and cliff walks in the area (beach islands and loads of caves to explore). At high tide Mokau river has sheltered swimming/boating, particularly when sea is rough.

Bring your personal items, food, bed linen (sheets and pillow cases, maybe sleeping bags for kids) & towels. Plenty of Duvets, Blankets & Pillows are available. Great for 2 families, with 12 beds (3x queen doubles, 2x double/single bunks), and a further 2+ possible

Linen service is available by request only (bed linen, towels - for a per person per stay fee).

External stairs takes you through a sliding gate onto large deck with access to upstairs - master (queen) bedroom, sunny (queen) panorama room, shower/basin/toilet, and spacious well equiped kitchen/lounge/dining area dominated by huge windows facing Nth, Sth and W. In winter, all made cosy by ceiling panel heaters.

Ground level is accessed by level path under deck (no internal stairs), with 2 steps down to bedroom level - comprises 3 bedrooms: double/single bunk, queen, and double/single bunk. Adjacent to downstairs entrance is shower/basin/toilet. Electric wall panel heaters in all rooms.

North side of the house has a flat, sunny sheltered lawn (ok for tents). Awesome private hot outdoor shower for washing down after your swim. Garden partially fenced.

Mokau has 2 cafes, rural butcher, and plenty of local history at the museum/gallery. Awakino has a hotel, with accommodation, bar and bar meals, bottleshop.

We had a wonderful stay at Mokino, the weather was beautiful and we really enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out at the ocean, topped off with a gin and tonic!Long walks on the beach and nice yarn with a local,we felt super refreshed after our stay. Thanks for the later check out time, it made a big difference.

Absolutely loved it ! The view was awesome best thing to way up to and awesome sunrise/sunsets.Awesome place warm and cosy we stayed up stairs not sure what down stairs would be like for heat Dog friendly and my dog loved it so much, easy beach access down a lovely bushy walkThe only thing that was an inconvenience was having no tea towels so we had to wait for the dishes to drip dry

The accommodation was so fantastic. Well stocked kitchen and spectacular views from all of the windows upstairs. Both bathrooms were clean and tidy and well presented. Mid winter getaway

Perfect location for us coming from Te Awamutu for a quick one nighter at the beach. Stayed on matariki and how winderful because the stars were very visable. As a dog friendly property we took our small doggo and he went nuts on the beach. We enjoyed it so much, thank you and we want to make a regular thing of it.

Family fishing trip away

What an amazing week during the school holidays with the family. Second time here . Kids love the fishing and we close to family and we love early morning walks. Even a Bonus we can bring the doggies with us . Thanks again . Can’t wait to come back again.

Mokino: Absolutely SENSATIONAL views !!!

Yes, Mokino: Absolutely SENSATIONAL views !!! and Bookabach ask, did you enjoy your stay? Yes, I did as I do each time I stay. This is about my 5th or 6th stay at Mokino over the last 10 years with the previous visit just 12 months ago. The views of the beach and of a cloudless Mt Egmont at sunset are tremendous. The sound of the waves on the beach at night was so relaxing after the time spent on the beach each day with the climb up and down the path to and from the bach with the walk to the mouth of the Awakino river a couple of times a day all adding to the appreciation of the stay and the surroundings. I will come back to experiance it all again.

Beautiful view from house we all love it. Very homie home. Very hot up top, cooler down stairs. Could'nt leave windows open at night cos off bugs. Nothing mod about the house, just a normal family bach home. But we loved it.

The views are as sensational as the description says, the Bach full of character (and obvious love), spotlessly clean, Fresh drinking water and ice in fridge when we arrived, the beach a stunner. We'll be back!

Classic Kiwi Bach

Amazing views & great open plan kitchen, lounge & dining area connected to the deck.The 3 bedrooms downstairs are ideal for the kids.Added bonus having the track down to the beach.
