Room carpet was not vacuumed. Debris all over carpet, including a bottle cap. Towel shelf/rack was rusty and chrome flaking off onto showe towels! Windows were filthy, could barely see through them. Random dirty, old couches crowded in entry way of my particular bldg. Signs at front counter promote room service from attached cafe, and stated no outside food, then told there was no longer room service. Attached restaurant/cafe gave me plastic utensils to eat meal with, while waitress sprayed glass cleaner all around me to clean tables right next to me while I was EATING! I was the only patron there, well after the breakfast rush so there was no reason to be doing that right next to me while my food was on the table. Ammonia mist all over my table and most likely in my food and drink. The koi pond was nice and staff were very friendly. The courtyard and pool area looked nice. Of course the lobby was the nicest and cleanist.

Stinky room and erroneous charges on top

The room had a horrible smell, like mice and mold. Then I was charged an erroneous $95.64 cancellation charge over and above my one night stay when I checked out. The hotel manager (Shelly) said she would fix it. It still has not been fixed and the hotel will not return my calls. I tried to get it corrected thru hotels.com and they told me it was my problem and to contact hotel. I have been a loyal hotels.com user for over 17 years, but when you have a problem they just don’t care about their clients. I made calls several times and was given the same run around each time from hotels.com staff. Don’t ever stay at Hiltop in Bakersfield - they rip you off by placing erroneous charges on your bill and the rooms stink! And hotels.com will not help when this happens.

Front desk staff was not that helpful. There were two that were pretty decent. Internet didn’t work. They blamed the guest vs trying to troubleshoot. Don’t look like the pictures. I don’t think it was worth it. The only thing that was good was the $7 lunch/dinner deal. That’s it. Bar staff and restaurant staff were very friendly.

Very nice hotel. It was clean and friendly staff. Nicely done inside lobby . Had a gate to go in and a restaurant attached. All guest are offered $7.00 on any item in menu inside the restaurant for lunch and dinner . Breakfast was inside restaurant with a good verity to pick .

We had a problem with our room, stinky, no phone, view of a wall and a 32 inch TV. Luckily Audry helped us by giving us an upgrade in nice clean room by the office with a 55 inch TV and view of the garden. Mr. Torres, the ground keeper was quick to transfer our luggage and was very helpful at check out as well.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The rainfall showerhead was a nice upgrade after a day of traveling. The overall hotel was clean but very warm. We were also charged a $17 early check in fee for being 30 minutes early.
