Awesome Breakfast

We needed a place to stay last minute and the booking agent was awesome at accommodating us at a great price!  The room was was you would expect and the secure underground parking was nice. Best part I would have to say was the quiet bar downstairs and the great free breakfast in the morning.

First impressions!

First impressions of the hotel was GREAT!  Looks very nice from the outside. First impressions of front dest, lobby GREAT! Nice and staff very friendly. First impressions of our room DISAPPOINTING! Worn, tired looking, beds lumpy, small bathroom,  NO closet.  REALLY needs a make over! House Keeping Staff VERY helpful!  Gave us anything we asked for. eg. extra luggage racks.  (there were three of us) towels etc. First impressions of restaurant GREAT!  Had a fabulous free hot breakfast, staff very friendly and attentive. I would recommend to a friend with an EXPECTATIONS WARNING!!

Don't stay here in the summer

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: hot, dark and stuffy
The rooms do not have air conditioning and are very hot and dark. Two fans they provided helped quite a bit, but at hte expense of noise. Beds were too soft for my (and my back's# tastes. Interior rooms are dark and load #noise from bar)

Great location and service

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Excellent shuttle service from Calgary airport. Central location of hotel, easy to walk anywhere in town. Welcoming, efficient, standard room services with free wi-fi. Good public transport system, almost outside the hotel door. A very pleasant stay at a quiet time of year.

Walking distance to Town and good breakfast. We were given an inside room and it was very noisy because of the bar downstairs. Also a lot of loud voices in the hallway right up to 10,45 pm, which I think is not fair to other guests during a weekday....just my opinion.

Location was great, front desk staff needs to be re-educated on customer service and knowledge of the area

Perfect spot in Banff

The hotel is nearer to the end of the main drag in Banff, so the walk to shops and restaurants is shorter than if you stayed further down. The shuttles for the "Big 3" ski resorts stop right in front of this hotel, so you never have to carry your gear very far. Rooms are sizeable (stayed in a Superior class room with 3 total guests and never felt cramped), clean, modern, and have everything you would need, including cubbies to put all of your ski/snowboard/backpacking gear for the night. Breakfast is included and usually has enough variety to satisfy everyone. The hot tub, sauna, and steamroom are a welcome amenity at the end of a long day on the slopes. There are ski lockers available so you don't have to lug everything up and down each day. The front desk will provide you with a lock if needed.

A Week in Beautiful Banff

Pros: Staff is amazing. From the front desk to the bar to the restaurant, it was all about service. The complimentary breakfast is good & Happy Hour is FUN!
Cons: It is an older hotel. The valu for the price and the OUTSTANDING STAFF more than makes up for this. It's a decent 3 Star Hotel with a 5 Star staff.
Location: The Ptarmigan Inn is ideally located. It's literally in the heart of downtown Banff. All the bars & restaurants are within EASY walking distance.
My wife and I spent the week of 9/3 - 9/10 in Banff celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time even though the weather was less than we had hoped for. Bottom line: You can't predict the weather. The scenery is something to behold in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. We did it all: Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Lake Moraine, The Glacier Icefield, and Lake Minnewanka, just to name a few. There were two hidden gems in our trip: 1. The staff at the Ptarmigan Inn. Far and away the highlight of our trip. What a delightful group of people. Seriously, the best experience my wife and I have ever had at any hotel and it was all due to a staff that genuinely cared about their guests. There is no way I can name everyone, but here are just a few folks worth mentioning: Steve our morning breakfast cook. Claire, the on-site manager much of the time during our stay. David and Ryan, our cheery bartenders and Ben, the jack of all trades. Got to tell you, whoever does the hiring at this hotel is a hell of a judge of people. We learned more about what to do in Banff from the daily Happy Hours in the bar, than we ever could have learned just reading Trip Advisor. 2. Peyto Lake. Had it not been for the recommendation of the hotel staff, we would have never known that there was such a beautiful secluded lake only about 30 km north od Lake Louise.

Small rooms, No AC in, and Very little parking.

We stayed here this summer and I was sad to say it was not what I had expected. It is in a great location to downtown banff but that is about the only plus. There is no AC and on summer days it is needed. The rooms are very small and when we checked in they did not even have the room we booked. So they bumped us. And lastly they ran out of parking. It took them over a hour to find a place for us to park! So I would say pick another hotel!
