It was clean condo, but needs some renovation. (Sofa in living room is scratched on the side by a dog, I think)
Management sent us the wrong door code, so please check it before you come here- it should be 4 digits.
Also, Google map gives the wrong directions for the last 0.5 mile. To reach the location, you need to take a right at the fork on Shelter Rock circle and continue to Skyleaf Dr. If you see a gate with code lock-go back about 0.25 mile
Overall, it was a nice stay. A clean condo with a beautiful view from the balcony.
Property is in poor condition. The only positives were the view and the fireplace Everything is very dated. Furniture is worn out. Sofa sleeper is terrible with a bar in your back the entire night.
Carpet in both bathroomsâŠgross. We put towels down. Owner needs to seriously update all flooring, furniture, hvac etc.
Do not recommend this place.
The condo is very dated, more so than the pictures make it seem. This is acceptable except that some things don't work, such as the entry light dial switch that had fallen off and multiple of the room heaters didn't work.
We got to the condo late after a cold and rainy hike and were ready for a nice warm shower, but when we went to take a shower there was no hot water. And being 45 degrees outside, the water was extremely cold. I found the breaker panel and noticed that a breaker labelled WH was OFF, so I flipped it to ON. This had not tripped off, but was fully in the OFF position intentionally. So we waited another 30 minutes and were both able to take lukewarm shower.
That was the biggest issue while we were there (other than the group of people above us who stayed up drinking and dancing all night except about 3 hours from 3:30am-6:30am. (Not Vacasaâs issue). But as we were leaving we realized that we both had multiple (10+) bug bites. I can only assume that these must be from bed bugs since it was too cold for mosquitos and I did not notice any mosquitos anyway, and the bites are in groups like bed bugs are known to do. I looked at the bed sheets to look for bed bugs and didn't see any since they are small and hide well, but did see evidence of them being there (tiny blood marks along the ridges of the bed sheets and mattress). Hopefully the bed bugs only did their damage at the condo and did not follow us back to our house on clothes/etc.
Would not recommend.
The location of the property is excellent. It has a breadth taking view of the mountains from the balcony. All the conveniences and sight seeing places, trails, Blue Ridge mountain parkway are very close by.
The unit needed to be thoroughly cleaned especially carpets and sofas. The utensils (pots and pans) needs to be replaced as they were very dirty and scratched. The main lock needs to be replaced as we could not lock it from inside. This was reported but was not taken care of until we left. These are small things but the location is so superb that we overlooked all other things.
Not following Covid-19 precautions, and other safety concerns
Walking up to the door I was struck by the great views, so the first thing I looked at when I walked in was the sliding glass door to the balcony. It was covered in child size handprints and foggy smears of who knows what. If you have kids, you know what this looks like, but you also know how gross it is. It usually involves child drool. It is unsanitary that this wasnât cleaned, especially during a pandemic.
My kids found 2 pills on the floor in their room! Most likely ibuprofen that had been dropped but it shows the floor had not been vacuumed or inspected. Iâm thankful they are old enough to know not to touch things like that.
In the bedroom with twin beds there is a sign that says do not put anything up against the baseboard heater, yet we noticed the bed was pushed right up against it. The headboard has a burn mark on it from this! We opted not to use the heat in that room because the placement of the bed did not feel safe.
The pictures make this place look a lot nicer than it is. The beds were comfortable though. Clean linens and the kitchen and bathrooms seemed clean.
It was a great location with an outstanding view. The accommodations were dirty and the furnishings were old and ragged. The kitchen and baths was filthy.
Pros: Easy to access, beautiful views, well appointed, comfortable beds, no weird smells.
Cons: Dirty. Dust so thick on the bookshelf I could draw in it. Very moldy shower curtain liner. Obvious leak in shower ceiling/wall. Very old, matted and stained carpet. A little TLC would go a long way.
This place has a great view!
There were some safety issues here, though: in the parking lot, there is a big drop off Between the parking space block and unit that is totally invisible at night. Backing up and then getting out to unpack is extremely dangerous. The shower hand rail in the first bathroom was not at all secured. My husband took it upon himself to secure it. And the toilet seat in that bathroom was askewed. The towel rack fell off the wall and my husband secured it also. If these things were addressed, we may recommend this place for others to stay.
Been in many ski resorts and condos, only this one HAD NO CABLE TV! The Kitchen utensils were few and damaged.Cannot cook with Teflon scratched frying pans. The front door lock does not work unless it is locked. Only a small breeze will force the door to open without assistance.
The property we had rented became unavailable. Vacasa who manages the property was most helpful in finding a similar property for our stay. We had a great time and enjoyed out stay.
This little condo was the perfect size for our little family and had beautiful views. The listing says they provide everything you need, but if you are staying more than one night I would recommend bringing your own shower supplies. Our biggest issue we had was that there was a little piece of raw chicken in the kitchen sink when we arrived, so we had to dispose of this and clean the sink thoroughly before using. Also if you want to make coffee, bring your own filters! Overall, I have definitely stayed at nicer places with more amenities, but this place was cozy enough for us for the weekend.
