Great stay at The Central House. It is a lovely historic home, very clean and comfortable, in an amazing location to walk around Bar Harbor. Great access to Bar Harbor boat, bike and bus tours as well (all walkable). We were made to feel very at home from the moment we arrived. We'll be back..... and soon.

The central house was beautiful! Lovely area, convenient to town. Hosts were so nice, and helped me with my luggage since I was on the 3rd floor. There was a beautiful front porch for coffee in the morning. Can’t wait to return when I go to bar harbor again.

The location was very good for walking to the downtown cafes and shops, harbor, parks. And our bed was very comfortable.
We found the coffee maker out of order, there was no cream for coffee on hand the day we checked in and not until sometime later than 9:30 the next morning (when we left to get coffee with cream), the hand sanitizer container at the front desk was empty all three days we were there, there were pens on the desk but no containers to separate the "clean" or "used" pens, our room had no bedside nor ceiling lights (just 2 sconces by fireplace), there were cardboard cutouts filling in the opening of the fireplaces which seemed tacky. Each of these things were minor, but it just changed the whole impression of the place as we entered. Seeing a large sunroom chair stacked upside down on top of the loveseat was definitely uninviting upon arrival (and throughout our stay). However, we must give credit to the manager who heard our main complaints, had a new coffee maker and lots of creamers in place in less than a day, and also moved us to a better room with more lighting. Still, it was, overall, a disappointing inn experience for us.

We're sorry the guest was disappointed, and we appreciate her input. Sometimes things just seem to all happen at once. We're very sorry that the hand sanitizer on the front hall table was out, and that the housekeeper somehow overlooked it. Hand sanitizer is also available in all guest rooms. Our Coffee Service Company came out first thing that Monday morning with a replacement coffee maker (most guests rooms also have in-room Keurigs), and the coffee and cream delivery (first time we've ever run out in eight years of supplying Keurig coffees, an anomaly). Our carpet installer had required that open fireplaces in three rooms to be carpeted be blocked off before carpet installation. Blocked-off fireplaces are commonplace in Maine. These three fireplaces were blocked off with wallpapered sheetrock, not with cardboard cutouts. The guests' booked room was a small queen-bedded room, normally well lit by a large table lamp which we learned had been broken. We upgraded these guests to the king-bedded master bedroom with larger bath for two nights, and to another king bedded room with larger bath at no cost for the third night. We thank them for staying and commenting.

I enjoyed both the house and the gracious accommodation of the host Beth. Great room, coffee service and location (Central). No breakfast, which is fine given the great local options - but otherwise a great B&B style Inn!
