Oasis in questionable area

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
The hotel is a nice oasis in a not so nice area. Walking outside the gate was a bit scary, but we didn't want to just go everywhere by taxi. We found a bus to Pompeii just down the street and figured out how to walk to the old town. We stayed a couple of days waiting for a cruise out of Bari. The breakfast was good, but other meals were not so great. The room was good, but the bed was broken and very uncomfortable. We had to fight with the manager to not get charged for our granddaughter as a third person, even though our reservation was for three people. Overall, we had an interesting and adventurous time with fond memories.

The hotel is by far not leaving up to the rating

Pros: Quiet
Cons: old hotel, rooms are barely furnished
This hotel is old fashoned and very modest. It would get amamimum rating of 3 stars in the US.There were no glasses and towels in the bathroom. The elevator is from the last century and the location is not the best. I do not recommend this hotel

Too Far From CIty Center and Not Four Stars

Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet
The hotel decor was outdated, it was hard to find, on the other side of the tracks from the city, no free internet, has limited restaurant options nearby on the main street, and was shady at night. They lock the gates after hours and you have to get buzzed in. If you're coming from a night out, expect extremely dim lighting in the lobby. Don't use the steam room or sauna! Both are tight confined spaces. You have to call for them to turn it on, the beds are falling apart in the sauna, it fits three people and smells moldy and musty down there. It is convenient to the train station. If you stay at this hotel, cut through the center of the station to get to the city center. I would not stay again.

Too Far From City Center

This hotel was on the other side of the tracks and it wasn't easy to get to the city center unless you cut through the train station. The area is a bit shady and the hotel locks it's gates after hours. You had to ring the front gate to get in after certain hours. The lobby turns off the lights after hours as well. Internet and wireless is only provided in the lobby which was extremely inconvenient. The decor was very outdated and the walls were extremely thin. You can hear what's going on in surronding rooms and each time anyone around you open and closed their doors. I would recommend getting a room closer to the city center with easy access to restaurants and the port if you are embarking or disembarking from a cruise and want to spend time in Bari. A plus was that it was close to the train station for day trips.
