This island is part of 22-acres of land and boasts 110 acres of a picturesque lake, teeming with wildlife. The region is known for its excellent fishing opportunities,
and home of swans and turtles.


Our charming VRBO listing features a 4-bedroom, 1-bath house, meticulously designed to provide you with utmost comfort for relaxation. The spacious and elegantly furnished rooms are adorned with soothing colors, reflecting the tranquil ambiance of the island.

With multiple bedrooms, the house can comfortably accommodate large families or groups of friends seeking a memorable getaway.

For those seeking adventure, the island offers a variety of activities to suit every taste. Embark on an exhilarating kayak tour around the lake and explore its three different bays. If you have a boat, there is a public boat ramp on the lake that allows you
to anchor in the back bay, swim all day, and cruise along the shore to witness stunning sunsets.

After a day on the lake, you can grill your favorite meals on the gas grill. Adjacent to "The Shell," you'll find a pergola with a table for 10, ideal for enjoying family or friends dinners. If you prefer to dine out there are local restaurants and breweries
nearby. You can also explore fresh food markets and wineries in the area.

Stunning! This is a gorgeous location. We had everything anyone could want or need, plenty of space and oh yeah, our own island. Location was a tad tricky to find unless you use the directions provided by our awesome host, Jim. I looked for those said directions only after not finding the place and he had it perfectly spelled out. My fault for not looking. So go rent this place and read the instructions on how to get there before you go.

The property is beautiful with lake views all around. We enjoyed fishing off the pier and watching the wildlife. We were able to communicate with Jim when we needed to. The listing was inaccurately posted, we expected two bathrooms but only one was available. The only available bathroom was located upstairs which was difficult for those with mobility issues. Overall it was a nice, quiet property and we enjoyed our family time.

Absolutely wonderful stay!

Our family loves to travel and this location was one of our top favorites! The uniqueness of the entire property is hard to put into words and the surrounding beauty is breathtaking. Everything was very clean, comfortable and quiet. I would highly recommend this property for a memorable experience.

Island Getaway!

Gorgeous location! Your own little island to unwind and get back to nature. The sunrises, watching an eagle catch a fish, the busy beaver, and beautiful swans were just a few of our highlights. Definitely a great family getaway.

The house has been restored very nicely. The history of the house is intriguing. The grands enjoyed swimming, fishing and kayaking. They said they would like to live there! The beds were comfy which helped all of us have good sleep. We would certainly come again.

Turtle Bay Island

This restored home was very unique and had something for everyone-and there were 7 of us to please! There was plenty of room to spread out. The history provided of the home was so interesting. The views from the home were spectacular from sunrise to sunset. There was kayaking, fishing, and fire pit fun. We also enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife. I will point out that the home is old and had a few "old home" quirks, but all and all we had a very fun, relaxing experience that we will always fondly remember.

Incredible Property and Views

We were so surprised to find that Jim’s house was so much more beautiful than the pictures described. Gorgeous house on its own private island. So much room to have fun with my kids. We spend so much time enjoying the kayaks and swimming in the lake. Probably the most peaceful place we’ve stayed in years. Jim was attentive to our needs, and communication was excellent. Well stocked kitchen and rooms. Beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay many times over if budget allowed.

While the Island itself is breathtaking, the house was misrepresented as a 2 bathroom (the owner has locked one up rather than fix it) This was also noted in a prior review and had not been corrected. I immediately called Jim he said he would credit back some money. The house is old and could be breathtaking as well were it well maintained. Unfortunately, it isn't and we had multiple issues. There was an ant infestation in the kitchen which means there were literally swarms of ants coming in from the window above the sink. Ants were in the cabinets, on all counters and in the window. We were unable to keep food anywhere but in the refrigerator. We went to Walmart and purchased Terro Ant Bait ourselves and had to clean up the dead and dying ants on every surface each time we wanted to prepare food. There were also stink bugs and large ants in the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom as well. Those were present the entire stay. We tried to use bug spray between the ceilings and wall where you could see them crawling, but we killed close to 50. It was nasty.Also on our first night the smoke detector went off numerous times in the middle of the night and my husband had to disconnect it and put it outside.A nice handyman did come and replaced batteries in the smoke detectors.If you rent this property beware of this owner he has now made up bogus charges and claims to avoid refunding us the money he suggested for the bathroom misrepresentation.

This is a charming unique home built in 1939 with remodeling done. We had an issue with the water heater not working for the first 24 hours, the owner worked to get it replaced. I understand unavoidable things come up, but the owner could have communicated better. I messaged the following day at 2pm saying we could not spend another night without having the ability to shower and it took over 2 hours to get a response. Given we are hot sleepers, I always check there is central vac. There was… just not upstairs where all of the bedrooms were. The property details should be updated to reflect this. We had just two bathrooms for 7 people so we expected it to be tight, but given the finicky septic system the main floor bathroom never once flushed. So it was unusable for toilet facilities. This same system was responsible for the notices around taking really short showers and an encouragement to not use the laundry facilities. Again, I selected the property because we had the ability to do laundry and not come home having to spend all day doing laundry. Given all the other water issues and clear discouragement we didn’t use. The property details when booking should reflect this as an ask. We did appreciate and use the kayaks and the lake itself was a peaceful place to partake in this activity. We paid to have a pontoon delivered which we really enjoyed cruising around the lake with. The fish never bit but that didn’t stop the boys from trying.
