Power Outage Issue
We got to the rental after a big midwest storm came through, and just like the rest of the neighborhood, the house lost power before we got there. Unlike much of the neighborhood though, we had no generator for power. Since the house uses a well, we had no water either. So during the night and into the next morning we had no power, cell service, or water. We needed to find our way to a grocery store to buy water and look for other places to stay, spending a lot more money than we wanted. Also, in the morning we saw that all the grass was about a foot tall, both in the front yard and the back. They had people come out to cut it but not until we had been there about a day so the whole place looked rundown. When we eventually got through to the management company that manages the property they said the owners wanted us to pay for the night that we stayed and would only refund the other couple nights. Though, I’m not sure what we should pay for since we used no power, zero water, and no internet, not even the games that the house advertises since they’re in the basement and without power we couldn’t play. There is no home that would let a person, let alone a family, rent for any amount of time without access to utilities. It’s clear that a generator should be available as this is a rural area that quickly lost power in a storm.
