The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was good. I can't fault them at all. They were lovely. The room itself was clean but very tired. It needs updating. The bathroom had water marks around the bathroom units, mould in the shower and around the bath, and peeling wallpaper. the bathroom was the biggest issue for me. It didn't feel clean
Lovely bar area with friendly staff, although the service was chaotic (would shout an order to the room, table numbers might be a good idea...) An hour wait for my friends food, I'd already eaten mine and ordered dessert. When her meal finally arrived it was a lot smaller than all the other pizzas we'd seen come out.
The room had a leaky tap and toilet but the worst thing was people in and out of the fire exit at 6am, each time the door would slam shut loud enough to wake us up.
Breakfast was lovely although confusing as the menu was different on their website.
Not bad for a couple of nights stay if you're not planning to stay in your room for long and don't mind an early wake up call, would recommend eating elsewhere when busy but stay for breakfast!
Positives were friendly staff especially a young man working the bar and serving breakfast, he was very friendly and helpful.

Got there and there was a very bad smell in the room. (Bad drainage smell) there was signs of damp on the walls loads of water marks on walls. No bedside lamps so had to have main light on. I decided to book somewhere else still waiting on refund
Room looked old and dated and was staines up the walls, floors creaked, so you could hear every room as well as ours and the toilet and shower could do with a good clean,
Was to late to complain as we arrived late and just needed to sleep 😞
Had to turn shower down to trickle as when at full flow shower tray was in real danger of over flowing anddidnt really like standing in 3 inchs or water while showering poor maintenance.
Overall a good stay at Hockey House, friendly staff, excellent food and a good night's rest. My only concern is that a superior double is nothing more than a standard double just a slightly larger room. No chairs or stool to sit on just a bed, a table with drinks making facilities and a standard bathroom.
I would stay again but would ask to see the room first before accepting it as my stay.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The bedroom walls are paper thin so you can hear everything in the next room, including people walking on the creaky floorboards. The bathroom could do with a deep clean as there was mould all over the tiles and the shower door wouldn’t shut. If you book on Expedia, they’ll charge you an extra £10 for parking at the hotel, so be warned.
My idea of a hotel stay is somewhere where i can have peace and quiet whilst trying to sleep. You could hear the floor boards ceeaking and alomst felt as of the ceiling was going to fall through. Loud music to put up with also. Creaky old floor boards inloke most others iv seen.
Cheap for a reason!
No sound proofing, every person in the corridor sounded like they were coming into your room.
Could hear full conversation from the person in the room next door. Staff were uninterested in guests.
No breakfast available the first morning and had to ask for my money back.
Two persons and one chair in room metres condition was not good breakfast was only toast and tea no tea spoon sataf was looking not friendly or not trained sorry I waist my time and money thanks
