Other things to note The bungalows are shot gun style cottages with separated rooms, kitchens, and out door space. Two bungalows in each building. Street parking is available and in abundance.
Hip and trendy area, but also dated and many houses are still rehabbing. If you walk down the street you may see 6 newly developed homes and one vacant dilapidated home. This area has been Birmingham's center for revitalization.
This home is equipped with two window unit Air Conditioners which create ample cool air in the Bungalow.
i had to go ânumber 2â in a bag because the toilet didnât flush!
early in my stay, I asked to get the toilet fixedâafter 3 days it never happened. also, thereâs no smoke detector. Stay away, this place is BUSTED and not fit for guests.
If you do decide to stay here, hopefully they wonât ask you to run errands for their lousy non-functioning unit⊠like they did to me đ
Upon arrival, we were a little iffy about the location and neighborhood. It looks as though there is a beginning effort to revitalize the area but it hasn't fully happened yet. We stayed in Unit B because of the driveway parking. During part of the stay, we were not able to park in the driveway that is listed for unit B because the occopents staying in the separate cottage beside this one had parked three cars in the yard and drive between the two cottages so we had to park on the street. Nothing labels the drive as Unit B parking. The interior and exterior space is not exactly as pictured. There is no real "sitting" space to just hang out if you wanted and there is no table and chairs for eating if you chose to do that. The Avondale area is cute with a few restaurants and breweries and a few blocks away - we always drove. Neither of us were very comfortable with the thought of walking to the downtown area, especially at night.
***The above made me rate the communication with property manager...we didn't have any at all.
Nice place, was glad I chose B because of the driveway access. Only a few complaints, first being the floors probably weren't mopped in months. I regrettably walked around barefoot when I first arrived just to notice my feet were turning black 15 mins later. Then I awoke to the smoke detector beeping through the night, I had to get up to remove the battery temporarily. The door lock on the front door took at least 3 times of typing the correct code and then the unlock button each time to unlock. This almost put me into a panic when arriving back late the first night, having no contact number for the owner had it not finally unlocked. I was putting in the correct code and then pressing the unlock button while allowing the door to process and it would reject at least 2-3 times before suddenly working on the next try, Super confusing and problematic at first, just want the owner to be aware of a potential issue. Would have contacted directly and not bothered posting had contact information been provided. Overall would stay again, but in hopes the owner does more than only wash/switch out the laundry between guests.
Confusion on address and door letters.they were incorrect on the B unit.the letter was correct but address wrong.we figured it out.also 2 roaches in B unit.we had a good time anyway. Thank you
Bed was very comfortable. Solid wifi - I was working while there and had no issues. Lack of a table/counter space surprised me at first, but there was a small card table and 2 chairs in a closet and I made it work as a desk and table. I felt safe. Kitchen had everything I needed. Good communication from owner.
Location was walking distance to great food and breweries. Mural/ firepit in the backyard was amazing and we had a lot of fun relaxing back there. We rented both sides of the duplex and we had 7 women. Each of us had our own bed and plenty of space. Owner was very responsive.
