WELCOME: We will always be there to welcome you upon arrival. A short tour of the facilities and quirks of this lovely home, and we will leave you to get on with the business of enjoying your vacation. This property is a modern (interior), in-town, self-catering, independent home.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME: This stunning 4 - star white Charentais stone holiday home with it's iconic blue shutters and gracious, modern interior has been thoughtfully renovated for comfort and ease of living. You will enjoy the attention to detail and the calming colours and décor.

MODERN: With an eat-in kitchen containing all modern conveniences and appliances, we hope you will probably enjoy cooking at home, much of the time.
Basic grocery items provided incl. Butter, milk, oil, salt and pepper, tea, coffee.
We also provide some special treats and a couple of bottles of wine, to welcome you to the Charente.

OUTDOOR DINING: The front terrace is where you can enjoy all your meals, Apero or reading a book. There is a table and 4 chairs situated here.

FOOD: The Café/Bar/Restaurant/Depot de Pain (La Maison du Passeur) and (excellent) lunch restaurant (approx. 17 eur ea, incl. 1/4 of wine!, RDV advised.) is mere steps away. They also sell magazines and stamps/La Poste/lottery/tabac.
Michelin starred restaurant (La Ribaudiere) with menus for most budgets is also a neighbour.

SWIM: Directly opposite the Charente River and a fabulous safe swimming hole. The designated Swimming Hole/ rope swing in the river opposite the house, will invite open air fun for the whole family. Water quality is carefully monitored to be safe for swimming.
POOLS: If you want chlorinated water, there is a large new swimming pool complex in Cognac( X'Eau), just 10mins away, and recently renovated pool in Jarnac, 5kms away.
5 Super Water Parks within 45 mins drive.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
You can walk, cycle and follow designated paths from this village. It is a wonderful place to do nothing much except sit beside the river and watch the world go by.
Kayak rentals in town, Bikes delivered to the door.
Children will love the open spaces, and enjoy the kms of walking and biking paths in the area.
Golf Cognac is just 3kms away.

GARDEN: We have a large, private, tree and structure shaded garden just steps down a private Chemin from the house, with loungers, picnic tables and outdoor games.

BEACHES: Atlantic beaches for a day out, just 60 mins away, are Royan and Rochefort. La Rochelle is only 90 minutes.

OTHER THINGS TO DO:
Enjoy a visit to Bordeaux, St Emilion and Arcachon, approx. 90 minutes away. Dordogne towns (e.g. Brantome) are an hour away, and there are so many choices in the Charente, you will have to plan your days carefully~! All this is detailed in our Welcome Folder.

FOOD SHOPPING: Jarnac (5kms), Cognac (8kms)

CHILDREN: This property does not provide for children younger than 5 yrs old. They will need to be toilet trained, negotiate steep stairs on their own and sit at the dining table. Parents much provide their own toys (for hygiene reasons). There is unsecured water opposite the house (Charente River) and beside the sister house is an unsecured Natural water Spring (Fontaine). These water hazards are not fenced. Parents must be vigilant.
