Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Terrible check in experience. After getting the check in signature for a pre-paid booking via Expedia, the reception staff asked if we wanted to check in at all as the lift was broken and the room was on the 3rd floor. No apologies or even use of the word sorry. When expressed our frustration at being tricked into check in by taking the signature and then releasing the information on the broken lift, the staff member said he will call the police. When challenged to actually call the police, another staff member came out and managed the situation. It is bad enough to not provide an advertised service, it is even worse to then talk so arrogantly and threaten to "call the police"
Well located hotel - everyone else has mentioned the broken lift so we won't go there, assuming there's a shortage of engineers in Bradford.
We were greeted by a receptionist who immediately walked off halfway through trying to check in - this was the first warning sign, although she was apologetic. The second apparently didn't understand our booking so we had to check in again in the morning; turns out it takes at least 3 receptionists to check in. The person in the morning was, however, very switched on and friendly.
The main issue was being placed in an adjoining room as a single person. Very odd decision as the walls are paper thin and it generally made me nervous as I felt like I was in the room with the people next door - you can hear everything. Thankfully a more helpful person on reception agreed to move me on realising this wasn't a sensible placement after listening to the evening squabbling of my neighbours and realising it wouldn't be a great night's sleep.
After that, the next room was fairly ok. Nice view, the bathroom is reasonably modern. Breakfast is certainly good. Adequate lodgings for a night or two.
Stay ended on another staffing faux pas however as Housekeeping walk in on you despite a do not disturb sign. So in summary - perhaps some training / common sense decisions, as well as a lift engineer...?
I love the old futures off this hotel, spacious room and bathroom. Unfortunately was disappointed with no hot water on the evening and had shower with cold water , it was late so didn’t call receptionist. Contacted them in a he morning I was told someone will call me back but no one did. We did had hot water in the morning and managed to have a nice shower before we left . The bath was draining water very slowly as well.
It’s a beautiful historic building. However, there are no fridges in the rooms, there is no air conditioning, the gym smelt so awful, I didn’t pass the threshold to see if it’s any good, and the lift was out of order the whole time I was there. In the blistering heat, you cannot open the windows more than about 5cm (one only). There are fans on request IF available. There are no water fountains, although there are hand sanitisers at each landing. The bathroom smelt of a mix of pee and mould. Carpets and bedding stained. The windows are pretty but mean you’re on display while on the loo and in the shower (frosting needed) especially at night when the net curtains won’t help. Water pools around feet for several minutes when showering. Premier in is cheaper and better. Really regretted thinking to ‘upgrade’. Staff are helpful and friendly.

We stay at the Victoria reguarly the hotel is central and rooms are spacious and come with a comfy bed. The buffet breakfast is of good quality. The only downside lately is the lift is broken so you have a few stairs to climb.. this is no issue for myself but I feel that this needs to be stated when booking as individuals with reduced mobility may struggle. Staff are all friendly and the hotel is central
Lovely old building really well positioned for public transport. Shame windows not openable during the heatwave.

Although the hotel breakfast and hotel staff were ok
It’s disappointing that on arrival we were informed the lift was out of action (from March)
and we were on the 3rd floor (75steps)
Asked to change rooms due to bring OAPs but the hotel was full apparently
The hotel should have informed us when booking that lifts were out of action
But apart from this and no air con in rooms it was on for 1 night
