Our stay at The Grand was a little disappointing. The room was comfortable but when we were trying to get to sleep at night we couldn't because of a constant hum from a ventilation outlet just outside our window. We called reception at 2am, the night porter allowed us to sleep in a different room which was much quieter but also quite chilly. It was also on a different floor so the walk there and back without slippers was not ideal. I would have expected a night at The Grand to be better than this.

Fabulous hotel and area . The only problem was that the water didn’t drain in the bath and the shower wasn’t hot
Lovely hotel lobby, beautifully decorated for Christmas, a lovely ‘looking’ bar and great breakfast but unfortunately we were given a very tatty dirty rundown room. We notified the staff at reception who were very helpful and got a member of staff to show us a different room which was an improvement but unfortunately still tired in areas and the carpet didn't look clean. We booked a last minute stay as a birthday treat and were so disappointed as the room didn’t live up to the reputation and what was advertised. After Covid the one thing you do expect is cleanliness. To no fault of the staff, they advised us they were very understaffed which caused long wait times and a crop in service level. My husband was quite disappointed that the majority of beers weren’t available so we ended up going elsewhere for drinks and dinner. It is such a shame as the hotel has such potential to be amazing but we aren’t in a hurry to return. Many thanks to the reception staff for their help in changing rooms.
