Historic "Cannon Ball" House Close to Cumberland ferry and historic down town.
Beautifully restored circa 1807 home in the heart of the Saint Marys Historic District. This home, known as the cannonball home was originally a study for Horace Pratt, the minister of the first Presbyterian Church in Saint Marys and was located on the Orange Hall property. The home was hit with a cannonball during the Civil War and the damage is still seen today! This historic home has a traditional wrap around porch and 12 foot ceilings.
A lovey and short .3 mile walk from the home and you are at St. Marys Howard Gilman Memorial Waterfront Park, divine Saint Mary's Seafood river front restaurants, Knuckleheads Kayak Adventures, the ferry to Cumberland Island, and more.
We enjoyed the âCannonball Houseâ!! It was very convenient and walking distance to the town of St. Maryâs. It was perfect for a large group with many gathering rooms and and three bathrooms. We loved the home and highly recommend it.
This Cannon Ball house is stunning!!! From the downtown location to the private feel it was a total delight. The home is filled with charm, beautifully furnished and very roomy. The hosts are nearby and ready to answer any questions. We will be going back there again and again.
We enjoyed our first visit to St. Maryâs and the Cannonball House provided a great home base for exploring. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch and late afternoon walks to the water and downtown. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The house is spacious and was comfortable for the six of us.
We love this house. It has the main living area but it also has a HUGE separate living area that is great for separation of space for multiple couples or large families with teens. It is very clean and toilet paper, paper towels etc are provided. It is the perfect location in St Marys. We easily walked to everywhere downtown. Our dogs fit in well with the house. And the porch was the perfect spot to end the day as we people watched. We will be back!
Delightful and pleasant stay relaxing and quaint walk to the St.Marys pier areas. Market within walking distance very appreciative, Park near Oak Cemetary area a great place to sit with our dog and loved the Memory Bricks of all the Tributes. Cracken & Riverside were faves food wise and the new Divine store was a nostalgia delight.
This was our first trip to St. Marys The property was clean, beautiful, and location was perfect. We walked to restaurants, enjoyed guided tours of the town both by walking and kayaking the St. Marys River. The Ferry to Cumberland Island was within walking distance as well and what a wonderful day hiking we had there as well!
Once again, we enjoyed our stay in the historic Cannonball House. The house is roomy and comfortable. St. Maryâs and the residents are charming and welcoming. We will definitely rent this place for our next visit.
Family was coming to town and I was sick. Last minute decision to rent them a house and the landlord was great to deal with. They extended their stay a day and that was simple too. Thank you!
This home is so beautiful. Modern amenities in the bathrooms and kitchen but the preserved charm of an historic house!!! Beautiful decor throughout the house!!! The wrap around front porch was just lovely to sit on!! The first day there was an AC issue upstairs but the hosts were there immediately to remedy the problem. Itâs located on a quiet street but close enough to walk to the downtown area to explore! I only live 30 miles from this location but will be booking again for future events that bring me to St Maryâs!!!
We found the place where the cannonball hit! We had help from the owner of course but nonetheless it was a great topic of conversation!
My daughter lives nearby and I dearly love St. Maryâs so why not make a vacation of it and get to visit her and her family right?
Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is so convenient! The girls ages 4 and 5 had a blast checking out all the hiding places and the adults enjoyed the wide open spaces for conversations while the cooking was going on.
Convenient to Cottle and Gunn (a must visit ) and everything else this house was awesome for our annual trip!
We enjoyed our time at the Cannonball House!
The Cannonball House was just perfect for our group. It was a perfect location. We were comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the porch at night.
The property manager was easy to work with and answered all of our questions promptly.
We will definitely stay in this beautiful home when we visit St. Mary's again.
Love the location. Such a wonderful and lovely historic home. My family enjoyed sitting out on the porch and listening to the birds every morning! The host made sure we had everything needed to start our vacation off well!
Had a nice relaxing visit. Very nice town to visit had some great places eat. Enjoyed playing golf at one of the near by courses. My wife liked the shopping in the area. The house was very unique and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Debbie was very accommodating and I would recommend this rental to anyone. Loved the porch
Beautiful historic property. We loved how it was decorated. You could feel the history but at the same time it was nicely updated and very comfortable. It had everything we needed and it was very close to the ferry and downtown.
